can i run E85 on stock fuel system?
can i run E85 on stock fuel system?
I have all perrin bolt ons(intercooler, upeer/lower piping, bov, TB, ecu reflash 28psi, intake) possible except turbo and fuel and we just picked up a e85 station right down the road.
-do i need to upgrade to use it?
-will i have any gain using it?
any and all input would be great thanks

You will want a larger fuel pump, a Walbro 255 will be just fine, and somewhat larger injectors. I would say 880cc should be just fine for your setup, but I would probably just get 1000's and be done with it, also leaving room for the future.
You will be able to make more power with it (after being tuned for it of course).

For stock turbo I'd suggest the Cobb single-pump kit, a 255 pump (or one of the newer 300lph pumps), an inline fuel filter, and you'll need larger injectors. You'll need a tune at the time of conversion, of course. You'll probably want either the ID1000 or FIC1100 injectors.
In other words, you're looking at an easy $1k to convert. The upside is utterly insane torque with the stock turbo. It feels absolutely beastly around town. Numbers-wise it's about a 12% increase over 93oct.

If you plan on making big power later i suggest you go with fic1450 and the new 300lph fuel pump. total cost shipped from map is 588
sorry i forgot you have a ten if you get the fic HI 1100 the cost will be 664 shipped and for the 1650 HI 864shipped

I would take a few weeks and test the E85 of the station.
You can order test kits.
Not all E85 vendors are equal. Sometimes the ethanol content can be too high or too low, and can really screw with your tune.

Tephra has support for what, 9 maps now? Our cars are not flex fuel...you have to empty the tank, fill up with the other fuel, and switch maps. You should also take it easy on that first tank. It isn't something you'd want to switch back and forth between a lot.
You also don't want to go with super-big injectors since they don't idle as well on pump gas.

I think a conservo tune is the way to go. Dunno bout other parts around the country, but we only get 2 months of "scheduled" E85, rest of the year it can be anywhere from E70 to E90. Though for the most part, it is the upper end of the scale.
A test kit costs like a few dollars to make, or you can order a fancy one for like $20 bucks.
That being said, I wish Shell offered E85.
