For those of you who traded in for an EVO

I just came back from the dealer and I will probably be getting a WW 2011 GSR within a week. My question is from those of you guys that traded a car toward the evo how close to KBB were the final offers you got for your car?

Thanks in advance!

This is going to be highly dependent on the dealer. You should expect at minimum KBB trade-in value for a "Fair" condition car, but some dealers will low ball you and give you ridiculous trade in values and won't budge. You should also be prepared to just walk away.

I got mid KBB and my wrx was beat to hell. Bad head gasket leaking coolant , shot wheel bearing and bad paint. Trade in is a way for them to play with numbers. Depending on how badly they want to sell the car you can get a lot or a little for your trade.

yeah ive went through this before but it wasnt for an evo which could make a difference, thats why im asking what others have experienced... on kbb my car is worth a hair under 10k and he offered me 8 without even looking at it....we ran some numbers but didnt get in to serious talks....and instantly threw off 1k off the msrp which brought it down to 39500...my friend works for a major car parts supplier and will get me below invoice price when he prints some paperwork at work b/c he gets a discount for friends and family it should take it to 38000 and if I get about 9k or 9.5 for my car which sells for up to 13000 i would be a happy camper basically i am aiming at 500/mo for the car, when we drew up the early numbers with everything lowballing me the payment came out at 560/mo..he also said if my credit is good enough they might be able to get the apr lower from the 3.9 we ran everything at...this should work out

They still have %0 I believe, but 36 Month time frame. If you can swing the payment %0 is lovely, every payment is taken off the principle it's great.

Well you posed an excellent question there my friend...

I was going to trade in my Evo X for a frontier. I was low balled beyond belief. They told me they would pay off the car and that was about it. KBB was at the time 34K, outstanding loan 25K

It all depends on your negotiating skills. Our numbers mean nothing.

Last year I traded a 08 STI for my 2010 X GSR. I got KBB good cond value of $26,500 on the trade and invoice- $500 for my X! Did the whole deal via emails back and forth since the dlr was 6hrs away! A lot of depends on timeing and for most part what type of vehicle you are trying to trade!

I got 13K for my 07 Si sedan with 26,500 miles on it. I sold the car back to the local honda dealer since it was a a certified honda. I still had to come up with some cash to get rid of it since I was upside down from my old car.

What's the reasoning behind why people want to trade in the car at the dealer? To me, the trade-in is just one of another scam/tools for the dealer to get more money from you. People are probably better off and get more by selling it privately. Just my 2 cents...
