Question 2011 GSR vs 2010 GSR . Need your opinion!!Asap

Hey guys . I've been lurking for a while and debating to get an Evo. I did search but couldn't find any solid answer to my question.
I found a 2010 GSR with SSS package with 4700 miles on it (first owner traded his GSR for a large truck)and they will give me that for $31k OTD which seems like a good deal to me. I will drive 250 miles to test drive the car tomorrow so I need to clarify few things
The question is; is it really worth spending another $4-5k to get a 2011 with the same options?
Is there any advantages that 2011 model has over the 2010 model? If so is it worth $4-5k invest to get a brand new one?

I used to own an 07 STI with Stage2 (cobb AP +CAI+ protune) and traded that in for an 03 Z06 since we have a baby now I sold it few months ago and need to get something more practical.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

I'm sure a X owner will chime in but from what I know of Xs, there is no real difference between a 2011 and 2010 with the same options. 5k is enough to make steer to get the used one as 4700 mile isn't much at all... some people however will swear that they rather have a new car as opposed to a used one... I say if the used one is the one I would go with. Make sure you check the used one to see if it is modded at all or stock. Good luck.

I also came from an STI... still have a Subby as my DD but I owned 2 Evos and love em

Having personally gone from a 2010 GSR to a 2011 GSR, I see and feel basically no differences.

You do get ipod integration and a little sticker (S-AWC) on the rear window, but I hardly feel that those are worth 5k.

There were subtle updates for the 2011's; trim packages and FUSE (streaming over bluetooth, and USB). Mechanically, the cars are unchanged. From my experience; e.g. recent dyno tuning, the 2011's are putting down more power in pure stock form. The latter is easily overcome when a 2010 and 2011 are equally tuned.

In my opinion and this is only me i prefer new. WHo knows what the previous person did to the used evo. They could of beat the crap out of it and 5 miles after u touch it boom clutch gone. Then your forking more money out for a car that you just got. I say go new. That way u have nothing to worry about and your the first driver to ever driven it

you can also end up with a lemon with a new EVO too... I bought both my EVOs used and haven't had issues wit either of them...

some people are leary of buying used EVOs but I seen plenty of stories here from people having issues with new ones as well. Good luck man but at least you see the differences between both year models as they are insignificant IMO.

EITHER car you get will have the factory warranty. I say if the used one is stock, you still have the warranty. And if you plan to mod it... then the warranty thing is pointless anyways.

just very minor differences . if you plan on keeping her stock the 2011 has a leaner tune . other than that i dont see whats wrong with a 2010.

There are actually many significant changes that make the '11 worth it for that money. The most important change is the differential pin upgrade. Another cool change is the stick exhaust. Perfect for a sleeper car.

Another update that I know of is the brake rotors have been changed. The previous versions suffered the hat separating from the disc.

Textured wheel is a welcomed change. And supposedly the '11s are making great power. I definitely would take the new '11 if I were you.

Mechanically I found out via Trevor at ShepTrans that the 2010 center diff pins are susceptible to backing out, this was fixed in 2011 by using the right heat coated lubrication. A hot item for the 2011s were the leather seats in the GSR, however seeing how that is not a major factor for you then I would say the 2010 works out fine to save 4-5K.

Good luck tomorrow

You could save a LOT more money and go with an 2008. You're really not going to able to notice any difference. Just IMO

Thank you guys. I'll probably look into the 11s then. I might as well go with the 2011 STI since they give me great deal on them. It is so hard to find an Evo in my area and I don't really feel like drive 250 miles to test drive one.
What they give me for my trade in is also a determining factor for me.
I'll let you know once I get my new car.

2011. TPS limiter removed, last year (supposedly) Evo, better factory tune, 4.3sec 0-60, more options.....yeah it's a no brainer to me.

If you get an STi make sure you check out nasioc...carefully. Those natives are VERY restless.

Yeah, I agree so many forum ***** on NASIOC

If the 2011 Evo reaches 0-60 in 4.3 sec, they obviously changed the tune it might be good or bad for the car though. Tune might be little too lean or little aggressive timing . Stage 1 or whatnot, maybe that's the reason why Cobb hasn't released an AP for the 11 models.
