Stuck between IX or X

So I've been looking to purchase an Evo for the longest time. Im having a really hard time deciding between the 9 or the 10. Around my area i can find a 08 x for around 22-24. Now the IX's are going for around that or IF not more with alot more miles on them. I like the ix because of the simple power and its more raw i guess you could say. Im just trying to decide if i would be happy with the X, because why not get a newer car with lower miles thats lower priced then an ix.

Sorry if im rambling just having a tough time deciding on what to get. At most id would to IC/pipes/exhaust/tune and mayb a fp red down the road.

How many of you guys came from an IX to an X and whats your impression? Also how are the trannys on the 5 speed?

Thanks for your time reading this!

There is a huge 200 page thread about this:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-ix-merge.html

I wouldn't buy a IX for 25k, that sounds too expensive. Also I wouldn't buy an X for 22k, that sounds too cheap

In my experience, a good condition IX will go for 20, and a good condition X will go for 25.

Depends, if its your dd, go with the x mr. if you want performance either go with the IX or the X Gsr. i personally would go with the GSR because its newer and looks cooler

I owned a IX for 2 1/2 years and put over 40k miles on it in that time. I now have a X and have put 17k miles on it in the 11 months I've owned in so far. Far and away I'd say the X is the superior car, especially when it comes to daily-driving it on the street.

I love my Evo X MR, but I do hear that it has a few more rattles than the IX's do. It's nothing that can't be fixed though. As a daily driver, I would definitely choose the X over the IX due to the extra amenities and DCT. If you're looking for a track car, I think either would be nice (especially since it doesn't look like you're going to be modding the hell out of it). Beware that the DCT in the MR is prone to overheating on the track unless you do the fog light delete mod (which is easy enough to do).

I believe the xi gets better MPG's than the x....though MPG shouldn't be a big deal if you're shopping for an Evo I suppose.
