Guys, update on this story, I am the OP from a few years ago. I had bought a 2011 when it came out and traded in the 08 with the ACD pump issue.
Well, 45k miles on this car and the pump is failing again. Its comically upsetting. I am starting the process again and I will keep you all posted
throwing codes ACD c161F and ECU P 2096. NOt sure if they are related, but they both happened around the same time

I live in New England, yes year round.I went to the deal today. They said the code is not a failure of the pump, it's shutting down because something else is not right. I do have an exhaust leak, which I am fixing, I am hoping it's related, but kinda doubt it. Will keep updating.

Yeah my pump was bad when I bought the car, it gave me the S-AWC light everytime Id start it up, luckily it was still under warranty cause Im pretty sure it was around $2,200 in parts and labor. The new pump is updated and less prone to burn out from the oil becoming to viscous.

Im having this pump issue currently. A couple of months ago, the S-AWC light went on and the dealer told me its the pump failing.
Im at around 85k on the odo on my 2010 Evo GSR. I haven't gotten it fixed yet, the light doesn't come on all the time.
I also do have an exhaust leak close to the downpipe.
I wonder if this leak can overheat the pump and triggering the code...or something. LOL i think i might be tryin to come up with excuses to not have to dish out $2500 to fix the pump.

my pump is failing - dealer quoted me $1200 for the pump (found online for $1100), and 4 hours labor to replace/bleed ($360).
i think some of your dealers are screwing you guys. i know $1500-$1600 is not small change, but a few of these posted repair bills are ridiculous.

mine wasn't covered int he 5yr powertrain warranty. i was 4 years in so the bumper to bumper coverage ran out. was costing me $3k+, but i had a nice heated discussion with the service manager and got it down to somewhere close to $1,200 including labour.
It's basically going to happen again, just a matter of time. so stupid.

that's because you're in SF. for us up north with snow and salt, the pump fails much faster due to the corrosion. i guess the designers in japan forgot snow exists in their biggest market.
