I've had a few things that didn't want to let me go in reverse. The trick is to get it properly warmed up, even if this takes a while. Also, make sure that there's plenty of fluids. Then, when you're ready to try, make sure that you're lined up correctly and ready to go. Finally - and this is the key - lean forward and whisper "I love you."

This is what usually works for me.. and on the rare occasion it doesn't, putting it back into 1st and then into reverse sometimes helps for some reason.

That really was the best Marlon Brando movie, by far, wasn't it?

well...took my car to the dealership today, the evo tech guy came out and looked at my car real quick because he did not have time today to tear into it when i got there.

first thing the guy asks is if it is a five or six speed....and he was wanting to know if the stock shifter had a reverse lockout lever also.

ohh why does this have to be the only mitsu dealership close by. guess i am going to be looking for the problem myself. lol

does not work for me...feels like the shift linkage is binding up.

i had my buddy sit i my car and hold the shifter where reverse should be and i was messing under the hood where the linkage connects to the trans, and i can shift the car into reverse with ease by pulling the linkage

How is 2nd and 3rd shifting up in your car? Is it acceptable?

Perhaps you need to have your clutch line re-bled.

Get shifter bushings, under hood bushings, all motor mounts, and put better tranny fluid in and it will shift a lot better. lol

I got AMS Under Hood Bushings, Shifter Base Bushing, Front/Cam Side/Tranny Side Motor Mounts and Redline Fluid and shifts easier and goes into every gear smoother.

He may want to avoid doing all of that until the dealership actually fixes it. It should shift into reverse from the factory.
