pushing 24 psi and concerned...

Alright guys so i recently got my aem afr boost ect. gauges and know what exactly my car is doing. I bought this car with 10,000 miles on it and I should probably say now that the only mods on the car that i know of are ETS UICP LICP intercooler, ETS full exhaust with MAP downpipe and K&N short ram 5" air intake. like i said, these are the mods i am aware of that either I, or the previous owner has installed. So when i discovered the other day that i am pushing 24 to 25 pounds of boost near redline, needless to say i was a little concerned (knowing that the stock turbo can sustain around 19 psi at most at redline stock) so my question is: what the heck could push this thing to 25 psi? a new wastegate actuator? tune? give me your best shot guys i dont want to push my turbo to the grave!!!

So your boost spikes to 24-25 psi and then doesn't taper at all? boost gauges are not 100% accurate. Since you have X your car comes with a 3bar map sensor. If you know how to datalog you can probably get a better picture of what is happening with boost that way.

No, sorry it does taper. What i was trying to say was that im pushing 24 then tapering..whereas i know that stock, the x, can handle around 19 on its turbo without a tune...what im wondering is did this guy before me get a tune maybe? or did he mess with the stock wastegate on the car?

With thos mods the car has probably been tuned by the previous owner.

youre fine as long as you've been tuned for that amount of boost. I have a stock ix turbo and i spike around 25 and tape to about 20.

24psi and tapers, I would say it's been tuned. Runs fine no other issues? Like the others said log and post it.

Okay guys so as I said, there was a grimmspeed boost controller installed that was not hooked up properly. As soon as I figured that out, I replaced it with the stock boost solenoids and now it runs perfectly. The idle is fixed (runs at 15.1 AFR at idle) and around 11 in boost. I have it tuned with cobb stage two AMS with 93 octane and everything is good to go. Thanks for the help, again, and hopefully this helps anyone who views this in the future.

I ran 26 psi on the stock turbo on 93 no problem so I'm pretty sure you'll be fine (if you're tuned). Also concerned as to how you managed to go that long without blowing something with an untuned 3 port

Sounds fine, im at 29psi right now (seen it get to 30psi on the datalog, but then again my car isnt stock. K&N makes a 5" intake? or do you mean the filter is 5"
