Well today I'm heading up a pretty busy main road, minding my own business driving like a regular person, and up ahead I see this semi run down 199x Silverado with two late 20, early 30 year old males in it, both giving me the thumbs down...So naturally I laugh a little, making sure they see me.

Goes something like this:

Hick: Get a real car kid(I'm 19) my "T/A" would waste that ricer.

Me: I doubt it, and I don't see a trans-am anywhere?

Hick: 650whp N/a, your little toy doesn't have a chance

Me: Even if you can beat me in a straight line go take a turn at 60mph and see if you can even walk after you wrap your boat around a tree

(best part) Hick: Are you stupid? Trans-ams are built for handling.

Me: Ok BRO, was about to let it go, but he kept going.

Hick: better handling than your ricer

Me:I ignored that, as he was too ignorant. Got technical with him asking him random quesitons to catch him in a lie, claimed "built LS1" even though they're completely maxed out at 500whp n/a, without spray. Had him stumped, on some stuff, guessing he was full of it.

Hick: I smell your rice exhaust, smells like Hondas...( have a perrin CB, not rice at all)

Me: Just fed up with him at this point...You're a 30 year old hick whos doing landscaping driving a truck that amounts to $3k, and you're jealous I have a crisp new Evo...Tried to say something back and he talked to the hand

Do people really hate on the Evo that much, just because its that car thats good at everything? Not to be arrogant or anything as I would normally never shove my car down anyones throat, but it seemed to shut him up since he didn't get near me again in traffic.


I know, "cool story bro"

But really, anyone else deal with the complete ignorance I dealt with today...I didn't think it was possible to actually be that stupid??

I'm just messin. Yeah I have the same problem. I have an Evo 8 that is blue and I have the opposite. I'm 27 and hear all the time "drive a v8 and act your age!" WTF does that even mean?!

 

No idea, I didn't even do anything wrong, and wasn't drive irractically or anything.

Me and my buddies had a good laugh, "trans ams are built for handling"

Nothing like that has ever happened to me. I get thumbs up from guys all the time in suvs, trucks, ricers, etc. Any STis I see are always dicks tho.. Haha.

 

Insulting people for no reason must bring him closure...I know I'd need it if I was stuck driving a transam.

C'mon dude, 30 years old and you're really picking fights with teenagers over what kind of car they drive....One day they'll run into the wrong motha*#%# who won't be as kind as I.

 

I havent had that happen, but ive only owned my car a little over a month. I did have someone in an older WRX with mods "creep" up on me on the highway. He was driving along side me (not to race), but to take a pic of my car. We stopped at a traffic light and he asked me what year my car is. He said its nice and the next car he is buying is an Evo. The guy was respectful.

 

Trust me man!!! once an old guy with a "muscle car" gets to taste Evo dust, they'll respect forever. Specially at lights.

 

I get that kind of crap at work. Most of the guys here think if its "foreign" then its rice. Like on the fast and furious when they are using NOS just to hit 120. Its ok they can hate away. I don't think a 4x4 truck will stand a chance against a 4g63t.

 

I would have busted out a "are you dumb as hell?" on the guy and just rolled up my window and drove away.

 

Well, I'm new to the Evo crowd, so no hating yet.

However, the muscle car guys hate on my Sky routinely. It's a V8 killer, as is the Evo, and V8 guys can't handle that.

Corvette owners either love it or hate it too -- they're a mixed crowd. The "CAR" guys love my Sky, because with less than 40k in it I run low 12s. The "CORVETTE" guys hate it because it's not a Corvette, and they have way more money in their only slightly nicer car.

if he, in fact, had some 650whp american muscle then you'd get spanked in the straight line. end of conversation. who said anything about making turns?

 

Yeah.......people are people where ever you go. The best thing to do is not to feed into their haterading comments. I usually ignore people like that which probably makes them even angrier but the expression on my face would tell them that I don't care and keep it moving...
