New to Evo world, mod/warranty questions

first off hello, ive been trolling around on here for a little while before i said **** it and picked up "11 evo gsr. i asked the dealer some of these questions but he was just like ughhhhhhh talk to service.. they were gone so i figured the next best guys would be some of you. So thanks in advance for any insight offered here.

So basically i am wondering what mods, performance wise can i do that WILL NOT void my fresh new warranty. i am sure the list is small but i am curios. ill just kick it off with that.

as far as being a new evo owner i mean that in the sense of i never owned or drove one before. I came off a saab 93 aero, comfortable, good on gas... not much in the ***** department but enough to get around a camry. before that i had a turbo is300... fast, fun, ate gas like semi truck... it served my boy racer dreams at the time. Now im 26 ready to go fast again but still look my age i guess you could say. well the evo is smooth. alot smoother then i thought it would be anyhow, after reading how harsh the ride can be an this an that i was worried.... but i was more than happy with how it drove. and the handling.... omg... if i had to choose between my first born or that handling...ill take the handling haha. its fun. just gotta get through this break in.

Almost every mod will void the warranty. You can do a drop-in air filter which will give you more of a turbo sound but do basically nothing for performance. An UICP is easy to replace and if you have to go back to the dealer only takes like 5 mins to swap back if you think they will say anything. You can always get window tint.

And since you live in PA, get another set of wheels and get some good snow tires. That will make you LOVE the Evo come winter.

It just depends on the dealer. Some dealers don't care about a cat-back exhaust. Just don't touch the cat.

Almost everything you do will void the warranty, Find a local import shop that can do your car maintenence and only take your car to the dealer when and if you have a real issue. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR STOCK PARTS, If you are going to mod your car, always keep the original parts, I can't stress to you how important this is if you want to take your car back to stealership. If you want to tune your car, I would recommend getting a Cobb Accessport. They retail for 600 but you can buy one used on here for around 400. Not only can you tune the car yourself, you can take it back to stock for those dealer trips, (it has a bunch of handy functions on there too, I.E: boost gauge, dyno). Dealers WILL find a reason to void your warranty to avoid taking hits, so be smart about it.

So cal mitsus are mod friendly, as long as you have your cat back when you're coming in for warranty work you should be fine.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
