Recent purchase of 2011 EVO GSR...looked at WRX and STi's
You got a good deal and are happy with what you are driving. That's pretty much all that matters.
A more objective answer to your question of course has been answered by a couple members. 6-speed, cargo.
The ones that I haven't seen yet would be the ability to control the torque bias via manual dccd to 75 rear 25 front. It makes for really fun driving especially when you turn off the VDC.
The different VDC modes and the SI-Drive that allows you to control power and torque output, throttle responsiveness, boost, and other types of power delivery when needed in certain situations on the fly. Although the X has similar systems available, the interchangeability and ability to change these modes via tuning approach is somewhat different.

I bought PB 2011 GSR without test driving, got lured by a big manufacturer's discount, - my fourth Mitsu. When I first drove it from the dealership, that was it; I had a great bit smile stuck on my face. Wasn't a bad impulsive decision after all.
Car Owned:
1969 Beetle - just won't die
1994 Nissan Sentra - good on gas
Honda Prelude - not bad
1992 Honda Civic - lame acceleration but very reliable for daily use
1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee - family use, great for Toronto streets with too many pot holes
1998 Toyota Camry V6 LE - noisy over 120kph, always beaten by my buddies with 4cyl Preludes
1994 Eclipse Spyder - Ok, but I red line and it somehow spilled its gut. my fault
1998 Dodge Caravan - family use
2000 Chrysler Neon - absolute junk, if dealer didn't take I would have pushed down the cliff
2004 Galant GST (3.8L) - OK
Currently Drives:
2000 GMC Safari SLT - family use, plague with electrical problems
2006 Honda Oddessy - family use
2006 Lancer Sportback - good for daily driving
2011 EVO GSR - nice to drive for job interviews!! haha
The only repeat buys were Honda and Mitsu.

I had an '05 WRX, an '08 STi, and now the Evo X. I loved my STi, but they are pretty different beasts. The Evo handles much better, and takes to mods much easier. The STi had a slightly better interior, and definitely more room (hatch) but it didn't handle very well and it felt pretty bloated in comparison. You shouldn't regret getting the Evo because it's a better performer. Both are great cars though.
I test drove a new WRX, STi, Evo-X MR....didnt get a chance to test drive the GSR, but thats what i bought and i tell you, i couldnt be more happier. Only thing i liked more about the STi then the Evo was the interior...it felt more "real" unlike the plastic crap on the evo...but that wasnt one of the things i was worried about.
I say you got a good deal on the Evo...stick with it.

like YooShin, I was also a Scoob fanboi... well maybe not as long as he was but I started with an 07 STI in early 07.. modded it and enjoyed it and thought it was THE car above the EVO until I drove a modded EVO 8 and it was all over... I sold the STI and picked up a IX MR and had it for over 2 years. I picked up an 05 WRX as a DD and it is actually less comfortable than my first EVO. Well its fairly modded and riding on TEIN Flex Coils which is not something I recommend for DD.
The GD STI is the only ones I like exterior wise... the Hatch and the new STI Sedan are just terrible looking.
I sold my IX MR for a few financial reasons(at the time) and after taking care of my finances, I started looking for another one and found a WW 8 and picked it up.
The 05 WRX is actually sold and the new owner will be picking it up this Sunday. I doubt I will ever own another WRX or STI. The EVO is in a class all its own and the performance it offers, great response to mods and aggressive unique looks, the STI doesn't compare. Oh and the engine rumble gets old real fast trust me. It actually got annoying for highway driving but I am not a fan of super loud exhausts....
anyhow... EVOs on the other hand look awesome with aggressive wheels and lowered. Aside the aesthetics, power wise its no comparison. The EVO mod for mod will blow the STI away. The STI motor is so finicky and hard to work on.
It is true that you are on an EVO forum asking "will I regret not buying an STI?"
Unless you really like the looks of an STI over an EVO(which a lot of Subaru peeps will actually talk down EVO looks
), then I can tell you that you made the right choice getting an EVO.
Oh and I driven stock and modded 04, 08(hatch) STIs and stock and modded Xs and I still prefer the EVO.

While I was back in the states for R&R I went looking at many different cars, they all got eliminated off of my list and broke down into 370Z, STI, and the EVO X. In the end I couldn't fit in the 370 cause of being to tall. I almost did fully side with the STI since hearing about no more EVOs being made. But since I had pretty much spent all year reading everything about the X I had to get it. Much smoother body lines, more aggressive looks and stance, way better feel and handling while driving compared to the turboed go kart STI. Finally while being deployed my wife made the deciding factor and went and got me my X.
After reading alot of posts on here, I don't think I will add any mods to my 2011 GSR...I am satisfied with the power, if fact I think it's sp00ky fast bone stock. I have no desire to have a blown engine or void my warranty. Plus I worked in a Trauma hospital and I have no desire to end up in the trauma bay
This is one amazing machine right from the factory!!!!
