if my evo ix is making 360whp on a mustang dyno how much power and what kind of mods would I have do do on an X to be as fast in a strait line?
I can't believe I"m making this thread
but I can't get a good grasp on exactly what kind of mods the X would need.

but my IX would still be faster at that point correct?
the x is a little over weight and I'm not sure how the gearing/power band compares
I'm already sure the stock x will handle as good or better then my ix with rear diff ..now I'm just weighing in the strait line speed.

So what does 360whp have to do with how fast the car is in a straight line? You're making an apples to oranges comparison in the first sentence.
You should say: My EVO IX can do a 1/4 mile in xx.xx. What mods are required to get an EVO X to get an xx.xx 1/4 mile time or better?
Considering that the 2011 GSR starts off, out of the box, with a better 1/4 mile time than an EVO IX GSR, I think that, mod-for-mod, the EVO X is a faster car.

its easy to get 360whp outta the x ( i made 354awhp with mods in my sig), i had an VIII with TBE, UICP, LICP, INTAKE, 272 hks cams, MBC and a 255 walbro and i only made 330awhp, going from an VIII to an X best thing i ever did, but its not hard to make the power you wanna make
I messed up in saying whp to whp
the reason why I can't compare 1/4 times is because I don't do drag racing ...I do track days
with that said I'm still curious about strait line speed and Im wondering how much more power the X needs to make to over come 300lbs although I guess a simple power to weight calculation would tell me that..but that wouldn't take into account other factors.

+30whp accomodates for the extra 300 pounds and will make the X equal or slightly quicker in straight line acceleration. The X will have superior area under the curve if all other mods and specs are reasonably equal. On the flip side, the X has a shorter final drive, so the fun runs out in fourth sooner.
Since you do track days think about the SST trans on the MR it has proven to be awsome on the track I have done a couple of auto-x and the ability to concentrate on braking and cornering and not worry about shifting is great I'm sure the same would translate on a road course.
