MR or GSR | WW or PB

I'm looking into trading in my 08 X AS GSR for a 2011. Right now I'm stuck in debating which version to get and which color. Any suggestions to help me reach a conclusion?

I'll be mainly DDing it and possibly bolts on and a tune but no major mods.

How does the MR clutch work? Would I need to replace based on how I drive and how often I would launch it? Or will it last me longer than the GSR?

WW for the victory or Octane blue (I like OB more and more everytime I see it).

All wheel colours look great on WW and contrast really stands out with any colour wheels. Also once you start adding some CF or CF trimmings the WW and contrast of the vehicle really pop.

PB would be great if you plan on going a murdered out look.

Yeah that's what I thought to, seems like I'll be going for the WW after going through the Official Wicked White Evo X Picture Thread

So now I'm stuck between WW GSR SSS or WW MR w/ Premium Package. Half of me wants the stick the other half is like "get the MR" so my girlfriend can drive it. At the same time, I hate the chrome that comes with the premium package and kind of want the wing that it doesn't come with.

So here's what I have so far:

WW GSR SSS:
Cons:
  • Girlfriend can't drive it
  • Sucks in traffic (especially around LA area)
Pros:
  • It's an Evo and I love it
  • Only I can drive it
  • lighter therefore faster
  • comes with the large spoiler
  • no chrome trim in the front

WW MR w/ Premium Package:
Cons:
  • Chrome Trim (hate it)
  • No large spoiler ( i can live with, or just buy an aftermarket one)
  • how's modding?

Pros:
  • Girlfriend can drive it
  • makes life easier in traffic
  • leather and heated seats
  • won't have to worry about swapping clutch? (at least not as quick as the GSR)
  • still a damn evo
  • new experience with SST

I was considering the SE, but I really wanted the F.A.S.T key and sound system :\

Your girlfriend should really appreciate you if you ask me. No one is driving my damn car lol.

The clutch is good till you hit about 400 whp. I just got into modding mine and after research and all. If you wanna hit 400 and break it, you gotta replace the clutch and get the sst cooler as well. SSP has them. Dont know if its luck or not but so far the whole transmission has been great for me. I even launched it a couple of times and still havent had a problem yet. I hit 17k miles the other day. I do miss the clutch work with manual but I really do not regret not having it. SST is amazing. Kick it to s-sport then manual and you shift a lot faster than manual and you do it with 1 finger.

I love the lip spoiler on mine. If you dont like it, you can always get an aftermarket one or a new/used MR wing.

To be honest, all the cons are easily replaceable and a quick fix.

I think you would be happy with the MR specially as a dd the ability to let car do the shifting and relax is awsome but even better is the ability to switch to kill mode aka s-sport At the flick of a switch

The MR is superior in every way to the GSR. As for the color? That's totally up to you.

I just posted a thread with similar themes. I personally went with the PB MR over the GSR for the very reasons you stated on your pros and cons list. However, driving a manual in traffic doesn't bother me. My girlfriend being able to drive my car was a big plus and it was a good feeling seeing her enjoy firsthand something that I love.

However, the selfish part of me is still on the fence about my purchase. So much so that I've been looking at second cars with manual trans. The SST is better in every conceivable way except for the physical interaction with the car, which I'm coming to the hard realization that can't be replaced by anything other than another manual transmission. And ultimately that is what matters in the end. Who cares if it is better on paper or around a track if it doesn't ultimately satisfy you in the end, or you are always wondering if you made the right choice.

[I am obviously biased owning an MR, my suggestion would be to drive one to see if you like it. Then if you do get it in blue, you would be one of the rare few with a blue MR.

P.S. I don't think the chrome looks bad.

I origanlly bought a used 08 MR so my wife could drive it too. but when the tranny blew on the ride home and they offered me a 2010 gsr or se, i went with the gsr. The MR (even tho ik they made the tranny stronger after the 08 models) just put a bad taste in my mouth and wanted the gsr tranny.

I just dont think an evo should be paddle shifted.

why not get both WW X MR-T and a PB X MR-T? how cool would that be? your neighbors will envy you lol

no loss in power with the MR, plus you see guys going for 600whp with MR's now, how much whp do you need?

MR trans is similar to the Bugatti Trans lol too

Seems like after couple of days of deciding and visiting Sam from South Coast Mitsu, I might be taking a 2011 WW MR fully loaded (Touring package, Sat Nav, Premium package, interior sports). I'll be making up my mind soon. Hopefully my insurance doesn't go up by much if it does.

I would prefer no sat nav as I don't need it, but seems like that was the only one he had that was white. I think they have one but PB, but the girlfriend prefers WW over PB. I'm indifferent about both colors so I'm find with either one haha.

I'll keep this updated, hopefully I'll go through with it, if not I'm stuck with my 08 for another year. But it still an Evo so I won't complain much either way haha
