my experience from the test of the evo x
the s2000 and evo will feel very different...it should be alot faster then your s2k as far as strait line speed....but all it takes is a few trips to the track to realize how fast s2000's really are in the corners.
so what I'm saying is the evo handles very good but in a different way then your s2000 and in the end it may not be as much of an upgrade as you think (in stock form)
Stock S2k's with Tires Brakes and suspension are pulling some really fast times considering the lack of power (evo's are right there with them with the faster evos having lower times but have a huge power advantage)
the evo will of course be easier to drive and ultimately be faster...but when you get it right the s2k surprises you.

Might just be me, but after driving my X MR for around a year, when I test drove an AP1 for the first time, it underwhelmed me. The V-tec kick in sensation was slim to none other than it going a bit louder, the brakes did not respond as quickly as I approached corners, and overall it just felt like the car on full acceleration was sluggishly going to redline. It only shined when I was cornering and it did feel sharp with the raw RWD feeling to it, and here's the begining of my real review :P
I've also driven many cars and and its difficult to compare different drivetrain cars. To me, the fastest car I've ever driven was my brother's MR2. Honestly, after driving his low 11's mid engine lightweight RWD missle that tries to kill you, not many cars have wowed me to this date including the Evo. I feel as if my Evo X is more like a floaty boat, heavy, gas guzzling, still damned slow, but you know what, I beat my brother's MR2 by 2 seconds at auto X consistently.
My opinion is that if you're chasing after a laptime to beat some oponents and to set some records, the Evo X will get you there. If you're after that late 90's to early 2000's pure enjoyment fun factor car that feels faster than you're actually going in the corners, you're better off sticking to cars of that era. You will never be able to simulate the same pure excitement in any current sports car because simply they just don't try to kill you anymore.

well guys, i guess my dream car has to be put on hold. here is what happened.
the first time buying a evo, i got everything ready to go to LA to pick up the X, the guys phoned me in the last minutes and told me the car is sold. i was disappointed because we agreed to have a deal.
the second time buying a evo which is this time. i went to the seller's house, saw and drove the car, and i went back home to get things prepared. We communicated this morning and agreed to sell the car tonight for his exact asking price. the seller texted me several hours later, told me the car is already sold!!! exactly the same situation happened!!! what a strange coincidence.
un****ing-believable! i've bought and sold many cars and bikes before and never had this kind of problems. i have never withdrew from a deal that was verbally agreed on, either have i had anything like such twice
i guess its just hard to get a Evo X out there, unless i buy a new one from the dealer.

I would be pissed too, but I guess its first come, first serve as the economy sucks.. Haha. Good luck finding a used X..you will definitely love it. If I was you, I would just go for a '11 X if you can afford it though. Maybe save up another few months and get one. It's nicer to know EVERYTHING that has been done to the car. Too many used evos are beat to hell..
And when I said the '08 tunes are horrible, yea it is very easy to get a good tune (I guess.. I don't know where you live..) I would save up, wait for a clean 2010, if you go the used route, to become available and pick it up. Make sure you buy the PERFECT one.
Evos are definitely the best bang for your buck sports car, IMO. Amazing AWD, great powerplant, nice room inside, looks great, and can make HUGE power.

thanks bud, yeah i was quite surprised especially this time.
one of the reasons i was looking for a 08 is because its a little less expensive and i have some money in pocket for mods
and get a good tune is easy around here in Cali. haha, i know some very good shop that deal with Evos specifically.
well, now i will keep my eyes open, FOR THE THIRD TIME, for another one i guess.

i've found a very nice evo 9 with less than 26k miles, very clean inside and out. heavily moded and right now its on e85. also very well maintained.
once an evo is switched to e85, then switch back to octane, does it do any harm to the engine?
this one has the bbk b turo, and many many more parts. will these heavy mods make the car harder and more expensive to maintain compare to a stock one, or just about the same?
thanks for answer my concerns, these info are quite difficult to find out from the seller, and i want to make sure i don't get myself into something that will break my bank. =]
