Monthly payment
What will determine if your ins rates will go up are the following:
FICO score, zipcode you live in, how many accidents are at the nearest major intersection to your residence, age, driving history, commute distance to work/school, etc..., marital status.
i bought my '03 new & made 2 additional full payments a year which allowed me to payoff a 6yr loan in 4.8yrs. i pay $102/month for $500k coverage on it with a crappy driving record but i am married & 38yrs old. EVO is the only car i have ever owned. i rode a mtn bike 15yrs in this AZ heat b4 i bought it as i refused to own any car that isn't forced induction + rwd/awd.
if you can financially swing it (meaning you won't tap your income to get it making you "car poor") go for it but also KEEP IN MIND evo's aren't just more expensive to buy, they are also more expensive to MAINTAIN...

have to agree you need to take in account all factors gas insurance monthly note and maintence for the car. Several things will be increasing make sure the car is working for you not you working to keep the car. If your RA is doing it for you or a couple mods will get you there you might want to highly consider keeping it as its already comfortably fitting into your budget and you got a year+ on paying for it. Also the biggest thing people have not mentioned is if you buy that one evoX that has some issues(unkown to you) then you will be out more money just to get it going again starting out already in the hole

Okay I called my insurance company. Looks like the change wouldn't be too horrible. It would go up 23.00 per month. So I just need to talk to the wife and see what she thinks now, haha.
Phishy that's not bad at all for your jump in insurance. Really the gas prices I am not too concerned with. It's just one of those things that we will always have to pay. The kicker like you guys say is the insurance. I am going to give my company a call or look myself online to see what the damage would be. I am 28 and married with no tickets. However my wife got one a couple to three years ago. She is also 24 turns 25 next month. Maybe that will help us out.
For the insurance and gas price increase its all worth it in the end.....I work two jobs and have been able to mod my evo nicely in the past 5 months and couldnt be happier. Yes 12 hour days SUCK but when i drive my X i realize how much the hard work pays off.

We actually make a 50.00 dollar payment on something from a furniture store we got for 1 year no interest. That is paid off this month so I told my wife it will be no different than it is now. I said isn't 50.00 worth my happiness haha. You should seen her face. There is hope though, even though she thinks I'm crazy.
i pay 577 a mont from a 480 a month ... worth it .. the insurance? it depends on ur history ... evo is considered a family car/sedan by insurance so its not gonna be that hight .. i pay 214 for my evo and van.. if only i can get 400 a month with my evo .. my life will be mch mch better .. hahaha
Property taxes, maintenance, and fuel cost will be significantly higher. Unless you have 12 months of living expenses (rent, utilities, ect) saved, job security, and other investments I wouldnt do it.
I wouldn't buy a 08. Even though they are going for about 20-22k atm the real kick in the nuts is that you only have 1 YEAR on the5 year full bumper to bumper warranty or 60k miles whatever comes first. Try to find a 2009 or 2010 actually - yea payments will be higher but I think you'll be happier in the long run. If the car is unmodified and only has LOW 30k miles on it was probably babied and maybe worth the purchase. It's a coin toss my friend. 30k miles on a 08 could mean last owner only lightly drove it - only about 8k a year assuming it has low 30's, even so anything under 10k a year is considered babied to me
