New or Used EVO?
Don't listen to Dee24 lol, i pretty much learned how to drive stick in my 9 so dont worry, you'll get it. It's just more difficult then say... a civic. anyhow, id say go new for the same reason ceazear said.
For $30K you're in new car territory so I would definitely shop new plus buying a used performance car can have unexpected consequences. Either way good luck with your purchase and welcome to the forums.

Yea I say check around more.. For 30k you can pick up a VERY nice used X. Look here in the private for sale forums. There is prolly some Evos for sale from CA.
But if you can afford it, it is well worth it to buy new.

$30K used isn't worth IMHO, esp. for a X. You can get a new base GSR for like $34K IIRC. I got my SSL GSR for $36K. As far as learning stick on the X, it's very easy. It's not as raw as the VIII's and IX's. You'll get a hang of it.
depends on your intentions with the car.
What mods do you have planned for it?
Is it your DD?
If you are going to be pulling the motor/trans to build the drivetrain, I would say go ahead and get a used. But if youre jusst sticking to some minor bolt ons and looking for reliablity, get a new one.

I bought a used 2010 Evo with less than 3k miles. It was much cheaper than a new one at the same time. The dealer had it listed at 31,799 at the time and i took it home for less than $29k. It was bargin compared to a new one at the time. Going for a good used one seems like a good idea to me.
I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago as well. I ended up purchasing a new 2011 WW GSR for invoice. I went with the new evo because it was the color that I wanted and 0% for 36 months. For a few thousand more you can have a new car with better financing rates. Plus if you ever start having problems, you won't kick yourself for buying used - especially if you plan on keeping the car for awhile.
