Travelling with Rims

Anyone have experience with checking boxed rims while traveling? I will be doing regular travel to a market with a lot more used rims and it may be cheaper than shipping them.

i have traveled with parts before, brought an exaust to greece a while back. as long as the box isnt that big or heavy you shouldn't have a problem. i can't imagine traveling with 4 rims would be as cheap as shipping them considering the hassle and liability

wheels, not rims... wheels.
I'd make sure to put extra padding inside.

Check with the airline first as to size and weight restrictions for check-in luggage. Once the size restrictions are known then take it to one of those professional packaging places that build crates and boxes. They are not that expensive and they package wheels really nice. At least they did for me when I travelled from LAX to Central America.

Try taking all 4 as carry-on, and then insist to the check-in gal that you're positive they'll fit in the overhead luggage compartments.

Bonus points if you actually make it through security and/or rig up an axle set-up that allows you to roll the whole set to your gate.

Lol, sorry
