Talking XMAS - WORKS Throw Short Shifter Package

Santa was nice to me this year and I got the WORKS Throw Short Shifter Package. That also came with the base bushings and shifter cable bushings. After the install there is only one phrase that comes to mind "NIGHT AND DAY." Shorter throw, better feel, and no more notchiness. If I would have know it would have affected the feel so much I would have done this when I first got the car.

Glad you like it! I have the same package, plus the WORKS Grab shift knob, and absolutely love it.

Kracka, this post was my deciding point. I have honestly fell in love with driving the X all over again. I picked up the grab shift knob as well and just love it. Everything feels a lot more comfortable, which was a something I was worried about. Easy install, the only PITA was the base bushings.

Is it worth buying the shifter bushing with the short shifter? What is the main difference between the OEM and replacement bushings. Thanks

hardened polyurethane over soft rubber. You tell me? It's one of those things where if you have it apart anyway, you might as well replace them along with it.

Read up. Here is the link to the kit from Works.

I would say the shift kit is right up there as a must have along with the Cobb AP.

Good to hear another positive comment about the ss. My son got a Torque Solutions ss with AMS/TS bushings. He installed the ss at first and it was much better than stock. However, when he went with the full bushings, it was as the OP saiid, night and day. Gear engagement is so much more positive and the throws are so much shorter. Definitely a "must have". First thing I will do when my Evo comes out of storage next spring.

It's not a bad install. A basic set of tools is all you really need. If you're not experienced, just go slow and follow the instructions closely, you'll be fine Plan on spending a few hours installing the complete kit if its your first time around.

It was a synch. The base bushing were the only PITA. I also suggest using the TWM installation instruction. The works instructions where a little lackluster.

Does the Works short shifter need a weighted shift knob? Or does it not lose much leverage compared to stock? On my Evo IX I had a short shifter and it was a lot harder to shift through the gears without a weighted knob due to less leverage from being shorter. A weighted shift knob was almost necessary.
