I'm not sure which company makes your gauge, but my Defi gauges have four wires:

1. Constant power
2. Switched
3. Illumination
4. Ground

If your gauges are switching off when you turn the car off, it seems you've wired them correctly, and no, the gauges will not drain your battery if what you say is true.

On a sidenote: In the future, please make even the smallest attempt at using proper grammar and punctuation.

If white is for dimming as you describe, it should actually be spliced into the green with white stripe wire located in either the manual-leveling knob for HIDs (if you have this on your Evo), or the ASC button.

The red wire (for power) should be spliced into a switched source (such as the cigarette lighter).

However, since your post said you had the white wire spliced into two different locations, I'm not quite sure what you meant.

I also searched for some Auto Meter instructions just now and found this: http://www.egauges.com/pdf/AutoMeter/526.pdf

It confirms what I described in my previous post.
