Heat Shield Issue

Just wanted the community to be aware of a small issue I ran into today.

While pulling into my garage to change my oil today I noticed an exhaust rattle coming from the rear of the car. After a brief inspection I found the problem to be a loose heat shield. In fact the area around the four bolt posts were completely rusted out allowing the heat shield to fall onto my muffler and rest there. I don't think there was a chance for it come out while driving as it's wedged up there pretty good but I couldn't leave it like that.

It was a simple fix. After loosening the nuts I placed oversized washers onto the posts to cover the area that was rusted out and tightened the nuts back up. The shield now sits snug back in its original position.

It has been exceptionally cold in Upstate New York over the past few days but there has been little snow so there has been little salt on the roads to cause this. Last year was a very, very heavy snow year but my X was basically a garage queen so I'm not sure why this happened on a 2008 vehicle with a mere 30K on the clock. It could've been my aftermarket TurboXS exhaust adding too much vibration as well but I'm not really sure.

Just wanted to give my fellow members a heads-up.

Another option is to remove it. I removed mine without any issues...no additional heat problems or anything of that sort in the trunk.. granted, I don't keep anything in my trunk.

I'm gonna have to check this because something underneath my car is rattling. It started happening after I got my DP and HFC installed. IDK if its the CBE that doesn't fit well with the HFC or a heat shield. Its very annoying and drives me crazy >.<

I had rattling issues and I came to find out that my dump o2 pipe bracket was broken as well as a bolt on the heat shield decided to pop out while I was driving. I heard that nut going everywhere and then out the undertray lol.

My heat shield is gonna be removed sometime this week as the map short runner tubular manifold is too big
