Wow. I was just thinking about selling the Evo and getting a sort of boring car/truck for a few years to save some money. I only have about a year and a half left of paying for it, and I have 0% financing.. maybe I should just keep it. The car just demands so much of my income..
Right now, I have about $1800 of parts on the way.
Thanks for the link.

haha my evo is on a list of other cars that are currently in my mind collectible. It's always the reason i can't bare to part with previous cars, and still own most of them today...90 300zx, and managed to hold on to one of my 1984 Merkur XR4Ti's. everyone thinks i'm crazy, for calling em collectibles, but its a mind set i can't shake, adding the evo x to that list

it is no wonder that the evo commands a higher resale than lexus IS', RX's of the same year, that dealers are actually trying to look for one to sell and make a profit
this is actually an aberration of sorts as mitsubishi cars are known to have poor resale value. not anymore!

I agree with the overall premise of your post: few of our cars will truly be collectable.
^^^ It's one of the reason why the car may be collectable in the future. Scarcity is a big part of the game. The X skipped a model year and sold in relatively low numbers to begin with. Once we subtract the heavily molested/beat-on that will likely be written off in a few years, the number of available cars becomes even smaller.

I am trying to buy one right now for use as a DD, but in doing so, I will put on about 20,000 miles per year. Give that long enough and the high mileage will cause it to not be wanted 30 years down the line. I wish I could get one, and keep it pristine, but I want to DRIVE my cars, not lock them up and look at them once in a while.
You guys can keep your collectible Evo hidden away in your garages for your pay day in 30 years - how old will you be then anyway?
I am driving my car to 100k miles and beyond and my face will be like
the entire time

I will be one of the few who is an original owner of a 2012 that is un-molested, completely stock, and well taken care of.
Does this mean I should park it in the garage and buy a Toyota for my daily driver? LOL kidding. I don't buy my cars to keep them in mint condition for the next owner. Of course I try to keep it in mint condition but that's for my enjoyment. Hopefully this article doesn't put that in other people's minds. Of course it's their car, they can do as they please but what a waste it would be to not enjoy what the Evo is about. It's like that sig line I saw here about not sleeping with your girl to keep her good for the next guy.
I have friends that cover their leather seats to keep them in good condition for when they sell their car. Makes zero sense to me. You are saving them for the next guy? Most cars aren't good investments anyways. Just enjoy.

I will drive it as I need and want. Im not really concerned about the mileage. Overall though, I dont drive alot of miles. I have two vehicles. My Spyder is an 08 with 28k on it(original owner). I traded in my Outlander Sport and had it almost a year (this was the DD). I put 7k miles on that one. I would think it should have under 100k in 10 years. I plan on driving the car as needed. But it will be regularly maintained with paperwork. Probably have low miles in comparison. And it will be completely stock and non modded. I also dont really like the Ricarro seats so am thinking of buying some other seats so my seats will be in excellent condition also. I didn't buy an EVO in hopes it goes up in value. But I did lean towards the EVO because they hold excellent value in my area and because I believe private party interest will increase throughout the years since you will not be able to buy a new one anymore. There is always someone turning 18 and drooling over these cars. I think you will always find someone wanting to buy it fairly easily if you ever decide to sale in the future.
