sparco seat harness install ???
Hi, I have this brand new sparco seat harness (SPARCO 2" 4 POINT SNAP IN SEAT BELT HARNESS BLACK - 04604BMNR) sitting around and I wanted to install it in my EVO X MR-T. Just wanted to see how easy this was to do on my own and if a harness bar is required or can this be bolted straight to the car?
And if you uninstall the factory seat belt what do you do about the beeping sound that the car makes when your belt isnt clicked in??
Thank You !

On the beep. You can use a resistor or just keep the old receiver and use a dummy plastic insert. Just keep it in all the time.
If I recall the Sparco uses the stock bolt mount locations for the lap piece and the rear belt receivers for the shoulder mount. If not, you'll need a harness bar for the shoulder straps. NRG and a couple of others make them.
All this said, please do a little thinking about the use for the 4 point. They do a nice job holding you in place while driving aggressively. That can increase your safety by not throwing you around while you are trying to steer. If you do have a problem the 4 point won't prevent submarining, which is bad. A three point will, as the shoulder (if I've got this right) reacts differently than the lap belt to help prevent your slipping under. Also, while it seems unlikely, without a roll cage you will die more quickly in a roll over accident as you will remain upright in your 4 point. The 3 point would permit your moving your head out of the way.
The best answer is: use a 5 or 6 point and a cage... Though I understand that is not practical on the street.
If it were me I would keep the 3 point in place, and add in the harness brand the 4. Point and only use that when you are at an autocross. If you will track the car get a 6 point, and then a cage.
Don't take my word on any of this, do a little research on the 4 point for street use. Also, maybe the technology has improved or the are other factors that make it safer for which I have not considered. Look at all of it and try to keep the cool factor out of your decision making...
