Did I buy a former test drive car?
Why would getting 4k off mean that the car was fraudulently sold by the dealer? Where I live, there is a Silver 2011 GSR that was at the Mpls. auto show in March of 2011. It sat at the dealer who bought it until August of 2011, was traded to another dealer for a 2011 MR, was returned back to the original dealer and there it languishes forlornly on the lot. It is a nice car but sadly, looks rather misbeggoten in its Apex Silver color. They have marked the car down considerably since last year.
^this. I wasn't even allowed to test drive the MR i bought. I said I need to at least hear the engine on before even discussing purchasing it. Salesman started her up inside the show room and revved it a bit. Manager freaked out cause his desk was right by the exhaust, but hey, they made a sale.
You'll know the test car when you drive it. When I bought mine, it had 16 miles on it, but test drove one with 40. It was easy to tell that the 40 miles on that car were ROUGH. They tried to get me to buy that one, but it wasn't going to happen; it was essentially a used car. Enjoy your car and stop worrying, you'd know if it was a tester.

Also, I have yet to test drive a car that the dealership would let me rag out the car to the point of destroying/hurting it. At the same time, I've never beaten on any car during a test drive because I respect other people's property.
I'm somewhat confused by this. I can understand the idea of not wanting to buy a car that another person has abused, but shouldn't a bone stock car be able to be abused for 40 miles and not be "rough"?? Plenty of people on the forum have put their cars through way more abused mileage. Maybe there was just something wrong with the car from the word go. I just can't see how a car would be that rough with only 40 miles on the clock. Chances are the car you bought with 16 miles had seen redline before you owned it.

I'm sure no customers ragged on the car, it's the employees...
EDIT: And it wasn't my mind playing tricks. The car I test drove was the exact one I wanted, got one without the package I originally wanted.

I test drove 3 different Evos while researching. Of course, I don't want to be profiled incorrectly... So I show up dressed more "business-like" and well-groomed. I also showed up in my 2011 Mustang instead of my old XB. I'd rather give them what they want and get better treatment than try to be a rebel and say, "Respect me for who I am....!!" Haha.
I'm very respectful for other people's property. So I was nice to the test vehicles.
