Question Stealership doesnt have/sell/the ability to order FSM??

Been looking thru threads for FSMs, I found a dnld site, but Im looking for a paperback one because thats more practicle.

Called them (my local mitsu dealer) up, the idiot on the phone first asked for my VIN, im at work so i was like wtf, no idk my VIN... hes like ok lemme see what I can do. So, hes says "and what vehicle is this owners manual for?". I facepalmed. I corrected him and said I was asking for a Factory Service Manual. He says that they dont have them, they cant order them, and even if they did, that they couldnt distribute them. im like wtf. so I said kthxbai.

am I SOL? or is this dealer retarded.

thanks

From what I understand there is no paperback version. They are all pdf. So download it and print it out if you want it on paper.

First off, there are paper copies. They came with your car. I don't know that you can order new ones. They don't exactly have a part number.

Secondly, yeah, when you call in to a dealers parts department, we need your ****ing VIN or a part number. "im at work..." yeah, and you called the dealer with out all the information you needed. Its like going to Wendy's and saying "i want a burger please." Then getting upset when they ask you which kind of burger you want.

Having the VIn is the quickest way to tell exactly what car you have. Models vary in ways you might expect from year to year, even within the same generation. Parts may also vary by trim level with in the same year.

^^ You are correct! A good Dealership will ask you for your last 8 digits of your VIN Number for 2 reasons: 1) To get you the right part and 2) So you don't have to return the part because it's the wrong one. Also, most new MITSUBISHI vehicles don't have the Shop Manuals available in print. They can give you a place where you can get an 'Official' DVD, but that is pretty much it. The ones you are downloading, are from these DVD's where someone on the 'Net puts them up and you can download the 250 pages, lol.

It's a good idea to keep your car's registration (has your Vin on it) in your wallet and NOT in your car. For ordering parts on the 'Net (on the phone regarding the Dealership, etc.) . Leave it in your car and your car gets stolen, you just made it easier for the theif/rat bastard if he's stopped by a Cop.

Download the .PDF, put it on a USB drive, take it to Kinkos and hand it to the person behind the counter.

1- they don't come with the car

2- you don't need a VIN for a service manual.

3- you probly don't have one at your desk. if you *think* you do, take a pic of it. it should be thicker than 3 of my college textbooks
