That is a somewhat high price for those miles.

This is the list price and from a dealer. So I'm assuming they'd wanna make money off of it. If I try to negotiate, what price should I target? Is 18k reasonable?

I'm not the best at negotiating...are there any things I can say about this specific car that may help me with negotiating? I don't want to come off as an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about. Or is the high mileage the only thing I got to say?

go over the car rigorously and find every little thing wrong with it. also, have a respected shop look at it before you buy and make sure everything checks out and theres nothing sketchy about the car.

for negotiating, just offer them something low and in cash (like 15.5 or 16). theyll never do it... but theyll come back with a counter thats lower than the absurd number they want

also, kbb is your friend: (and they seem to agree with me on the 17.5k price lol)

I'm driving 1 hour to look at it and I'm not familiar with any shops in their area...so it seems like taking it to a shop is out of the question for me. Thanks for the other advice, I will do my best to get it for a good deal. Dealerships are hard to deal with in general imo.

Act like your not that interested. "Yeah it's nice but that's too expensive". "There are plenty of others around for less". "I've been thinking about an STI also".

However in Oregon I think that would be a good price. There are not many avaliable here. I went 4 hours to get a decent X. When I bought my VIII I paid $16k it was an 03 with 79k reasonable condition. It was the only one available from a dealership in in the Portland metro area at the time. I spun a rod bearing 7 days after I bought it. $6600 in repairs. Ouch! Still loved the car... Totaled it after a year. Went back to an Audi 5th one 2011 A4 PP 8sp automatic. Drove it 3 months and couldn't take it anymore, went out and bought an X. Don't get me wrong I love Audi's, but there is something about the Evo, it's like healthy crack, puts a smile on my face every time I take it out.

PS don't crash the 8's and 9's, they seen to fold up like tinfoil... Not sure how the X's hold up. Don't really want to find out.

This is the only evo 9 within 300 miles of where I am. And it's the color I want. I'll do my best to not act excited. But from the inputs received it seems like the test drive will put the smile on my face.

It's loud and look at all the paint flaws etc etc. burden them to sell the car to you. Not the other way around.

You also like the X better. You've been talking to the subaru dealership. The car isn't that fast and your mustang was faster. It rides rougher than you expected. Just pull some BS out your a$$

Haha thanks guys, I will keep these tactics in mind. If only an evo expert can come with me, that'd be ideal. Anywho, I'm scheduled to check it out tomorrow...I'll update on what the result is. Again, thanks much...hope to join the evo forums

its got a dead spot in steering, its suspension is sloshy and has a lot of body roll, it gets **** gas mileage, the X is much nicer looking, the paint seams a little beat up, the turbo is laggy, it doesnt pull or handle like you thought, the sti pulled and handle better, it seems old and outdated, its ugly, its stupid, it reminds you of a kia/hyundai/civic you once owned...

Driving 1 hour to the dealership, I got there and find out that it's a GSR model not the MR as listed on the website. The salesman did not know what he was talking about. He thought there was only one trim -__- I didn't even bother test driving it. Let alone talk prices. Just Out of curiosity, besides the tramsmission, is there other differences between the mr and the gsr?
