How much money are you looking to spend?

The AMS one is really nice. And if you don't like that one, you can always get the AEM intake. If you want to go all out and get a CF box, there is always HKS, Gruppe-M, Blitz, and Password JDM..

i love my AMS CAI. The first half is easy to install. The CAI section is abit of a pain to get it perfect.

My first question is: what is the intended purpose of the vehicle? Is it for drag racing or circuit racing/time attack?

The reason why I ask is because the intended purpose of the vehicle will influence my answer.

I noticed that the vehicle has more low end power with an enclosed system as opposed to an open air element. This will help out on the track for circuit racing and time attack. Plus, it will keep most of that desert sand out of the filter.

You said "Box air intakes"

I guess the way I understand your question is you mean non-open-element and non-cai.

My answer:
AEM or drop-in filter (Cobb, K&N, HKS) on the OE airbox. Both ways are great, you'll likely be happier with the AEM.

Get a CARB legal intake so you never have issues down the line with smog check. I have the AEM and I think there are a few others out there. A cone filter is a cone filter, so at least get one that won't cause issues with the visual inspection portion of a smog check.

He's in another country.

OP, then go with a box style if you are going to daily it also. AEM all the way. You'll like the lower end to mid range power.

I went with the K&N Typhoon personally because I wanted to hear the turbo/bov more and wanted the UICP and liked the red color --- However, that is a fantastic little mod to the AEM that is aesthetically beautiful and 100% awesome

I used to care about the CARB sticker, but as time passed by, I realized that a lot of smog checkers don't really care about it, either because they really don't care, or they're waiting for you to slip a few extra bucks under the table. Modding in any way, to be honest, won't help you avoid getting state ref'd, but the cop that bothered to check under your hood is probably a dick anyway. The cop probably won't care about that tiny sticker you have on that intake box.
