Engine stutter w dual port bov
Engine stutter w dual port bov
Installed the turbosmart dual port and have it unscrewed until just before the o ring gasket deal. During normal driving or moderate boost 2-7psi such as gradual acceleration or throttle modulation it seems as if the engine stutters or there's turbo surge...any ideas?
I know that feeling...
I had the same problem with a greddy type rs that my buddy installed on his DSM a long time ago. We wound up having to play with the adjustment screw for a while.

Could be, it depends if its an engine stutter or BOV flutter. Either way, you want all that metered air going back into to your intake system since the ECU thinks it's there.
It may even stutter in full recirc. The spring tension can be a issue as well with many of the aftermarket valves.
Go back to stock for easiest fix. If your mostly looking for sound just unhook the stock valve from the intake and cap the intake port. You will probably get made fun of a lot, but at least your car won't stutter and buck at partial throttle. Or you can wait for the spring in the valve you have to break in a little and see if it get's any better, but I doubt it will.
I've heard good things about the APS twin vent if you can find one. They seem to be one of the only dual valves that don't have this issue.

Welp I put the blanking plug in and went full recirc and only 3 times in an hour drive around did the valve flutter. Seems its only on the highway if I'm gradually accelerating from say 70-80 and let off the gas slowly, like you would if you were passing somebody on the hwy. I'm thinking that's just the spring needing broke in. Thanks for all the help fellas, Kracka once again you had the right infoso in sending Charlie sheens hookers and blow your way! Lol
Isn't that sound normal? I have a turbosmart dual port bov as well and have the hole where it VTA closed with the little plug it comes with, (I'm assuming this makes it recirc) and my car makes this sound when I let off under a certain amount of boost.
It could be, I'm still learning, I had just read some threads about turbo surge b/c the bov doesn't open fast enough etc and thought my stuff was jacked up. Originally tho w/ the VTA port in my engine would literally choke out and buck and hesitate under that light boost
