Driving/Moving from LA, CA to Omaha,NE on a EVO x

Hi, guys,
I will be moving from LA to Omaha next Wednesday, because I got a job offer from that City.
What should I look for during the long trip.
I tried to search on forum, but I think there is no real answer to my specific questions.

So, I am planning to finish the trip in 2 days.
First day, is gona be LA to Denver.
It is gona be 1000 miles in the first day, which I worry the most.
Do you guys cool down your car during the trip like this?
Like do you let the car sit and cool after maybe 4 hours of driving?
I am gona take all my property with me, so the car is gona be heavy and there will be a lot of mountain road. I am just wondering if there is anyway to not stress my car too much.

Have you considered towing it or having it shipped?

Nothing special needed, especially if it's a stock car. I've taken my car on numerous 1,000+ miles per day trips. Just make sure all your maintenance is up to date, tires are in good condition, etc.

Your Evo should be able to handle it without any issues. Definitely check your maintenance stuff like oil, fluids, tires, etc before the trip. Good luck!

Sounds like you'll get to try Snow Mode out of the first time

If your tuned for 93, be careful, its 91 octane most places up that way.

I drove from North Carolina to California then to Washington State in my Evo X. I drove continuously for 8 hours a day or more with only stopping for food and gas.

Total miles was about 3,737. I had to use 90 Octane in new Mexico which made my SES light come on until I could get 91 Octane.

Your car will be just fine as long as your routine maintenance is all taken care of and your tires are in good shape.

For those who might not believe the 90 Octane fill up.. here's a pic I took while getting it lol

If you are going from la to omaha on top of your evo, I would recommend securing yourself down.

If you are driving there, do this:

^ I highly recommend doing something like this to protect your paint! I had an enormous amount of bug juice all over the front of my car. Till this day I still cannot get some of it off my paint.

I'm kind of confused I recommended this, yet I have been commuting to work in my evo for the past three months... FML.

Normal commute isn't as bad as long road trips.

Unfortunately chipping the front bumper is inevitable.

I drove from LA to Lincoln nebraska and its pretty difficult to do the drive in two days. What makes it a very hard drive is that it is insanely boring. There are some nice views but you will get over it quickly. Your car will be completely fine, if anything better due to the turbo when driving through Colorado. I'd would aslo say put some type of protection on the front because you will have so many bugs on the front of your car. Overall id say just ship it if you can and fly there...

Your car will be fine.

I was worried when I had to drive 1200 miles from CA to NM when I moved last year. When I did my drive it was very hot outside, 100 to 115 degrees the entire way. My car also had a full load of boxes and other belongings.

My Evo X was the best road trip car I've ever driven. The drive was a lot of fun. Mountain passes are super easy in an Evo. All the other cars around me were revving their engine to get over the mountain passes, my Evo just climbed easily up any mountain while barely hitting the gas.

Part of my drive had heavy cross winds. Again my Evo was incredible because I couldn't even feel 50+ mph cross winds. All the other cars and trucks were getting blown all over the road from the wind.

I did not drive hard at all during my drive because I was concerned about the intense desert heat. I built RPMs slowly and shifted smooth the entire way. I never had any engine overheating problems. I was surprised how cool the engine stayed. When I stopped to gas up, I would pop the hood to let the engine get some fresh air and cool down.

I averaged 23-26mpg the entire way which is excellent gas mileage.

Enjoy your drive and don't worry about your car it will be fine. These cars are built for hard driving and racing. A long freeway drive will be easy.

edit to say:
Pick up a gallon of Evo engine coolant from Mitsubishi. You never know. I didn't need mine during my drive, but I was glad I had it with me.
