Why do people sell aftermarket parts?
Why do people sell their aftermarket parts that are currently on their car and say they are going in a different direction? If its a good intake why do you change it? Injen a good intake and uicp?
For so many reasons.
Exhaust = Too loud? Too quiet? Scrapes because car is too low and there is little clearance?
Intakes = Closed so it's quiet? MAF housing too small?
and so on for different parts
Some parts though rarely make a difference between brands, such as the UICP.
Almost all intakes are more or less the same after tuning. If you're still on the stock turbo, just save your money and put a drop in filter unless you want the sound of an open element.

I have personally gone through a multitude of different aftermarket parts. There is no exact reason I sell my parts. Sometimes, I am selling parts because I have to make ends meet. Other times, I am selling parts because I don't need them anymore.
Then you also have to realize that once you start modding your Evo and taking off stock parts and putting on aftermarket parts then you start to loose more and more space. For example, OEM brake rotors are wearable items that are heavy, dirty, and hard to store. If there is some life left in those rotors then the time and effort put into selling them for a marginal profit is better than just throwing them into the garbage.

Or, people just like changing things up--maybe you have a chrome pipes and want to switch to wrinkle black
Convert over to all your parts from one vendor--like AMS or the likes
Numerous reasons...sometimes people are desperate and you can find good deals.

I have seen three main reasons:
1. upgrade and sell the old (OEM) or aftermarket part
2. Return to stock (to sell at a delaership)
3. totalled the car and/or do not need the parts
Me? I don't care why they are selling! I am a vulture always lurking....

I feel the same way. Must be the polish in me always looking for a deal
When I was interested in purchasing a used part and someone said that reason I would ask them what are they upgrading to and why so I could tell if a person was BSing or not.
For me, it's usually that I don't do enough research before I make a purchase.
I read a few things, think it's what I need then I pull the trigger. As I'm reading more and more, I realize that I might have made a mistake, so then I sell the part.
