Engine Serial Number Location

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find the serial number on my 4b11 engine? I need to prove to the dealer that they sold me a car without disclosing the fact that my engine was swapped/rebuilt.

Thanks,

Rob

How do you know that the engine was swapped or rebuilt if you haven't seen the VIN on it?

Here is the location on the engine and trans according to the FSM:

From what I remember from when I was doing my rebuild it is VERY hard to see either of the ones on the engine with it in the car... but I'm sure theres a way.

Why would the dealer have to disclose the engine had been replaced/rebuilt? Unless they specifically said it's the original longblock, or you purchased the car brand new...

In the province of ontario you have the declare whether it's a rebuild verbally and on the bill of sale. If not they can be fined if proven. There's no accurate way a dealer can sell me a car with "true" kilometers because the engine could have 200k on it. The fact of the matter is, they breached the contract and probably didn't know it.

Thank you fostytou!

I don't know yet, but the top of the engine has a red spray painted stock number on it. There's also a Japan Auto Parts sticker parts planted on the top. Some import shop.. Funny thing, I suspected they didn't even inspect the vehicle after I bought it, started running funny within weeks..
