Evo is a great car for the snow, as long as it's not too deep.

6" is not a problem with with snow tires. It will go thru more but everything gets packed with snow. I have had the handle of my window scraper in the wheel well's and the rims several times to clear them. Shakes like crazy at higher speeds with all that snow packed in there.
I bet with good tires 8-10" max.

2 years ago, I organized a track day at the Autodrome near Montreal. The snow hadn't been plowed all year and we received 8 inches of new snow 2 days before.

The plan was to let the 4x4 trucks that were present to make tracks and open up the track.
2 of the 3 got stuck.

I went out slowly with the Evo , on Gislaveds and extracted both drivers. Once I saw that I could make it, I started doing laps to make a groove. The snow was over the hoodline and after a bit, I had to pit so that we could move the packed snow from the grill- the car was starting to heat up....

In the end, the Evo proved untouchable in these conditions.

Later that day, I did a roll on with a street studded Nokian shod 2011 STi and just left him for dead.....

I love my EVO in the snow, and I have yet to see a condition I can't tackle.... well except hard packed snow banks.....don't ask why, but I can say that side skirts cost about $600 painted and installed here in Quebec!!

pics from that day,

More snow images, this was driving out from work last year- 12 inches of snow- no worries.
