Jalopnik review of 2013 Evo MR

Jalopnik has a review of a 2013 Evo MR with a discussion between a father and son over its merits and demerits. For the most part, the review is positive and I agree with a number of points made. http://jalopnik.com/5978126/2013-mit...tag=test-drive

Saw this yesterday. Disagreed with exterior. I think should be higher, but I'm biased because I think, in general, the 08+ Lancer exterior is ****ing awesome.

Also, the RF sound system is ****ing awesome too. At times, I feel that the system is too much.

I drive my MR daily, and I love it.

Watching those subaru fan boys bashing the car amuses me.

Hate people who complain about the sticker price. MSRP does not equal street price. True cost of ownership is street price plus interest rates. People rag on this Evo for having a sticker price of $45k, but you should probably walk out the door paying 40k and with 0% apr for a very reasonably equipped race car. Try to fully equip an S4 and see how much that thing is...

Take the Evo and throw it into a corner way faster than you think you should. On entry you'll have a bit of understeer. But then you feel the computers/dark sorcerers take over. Power starts shifting side to side and front to back and you magically make it out of the corner. You could be one of the most ham fisted drivers in the world and the Evo will flatter you to no end. It just works.
Love it

I hate when people complain about prices so much! Come to Canada and pay 43k for a base GSR lol ! if they can't afford it then too bad for them lol

Judgin from this guy's opinions in the article he probably drives a M3. I don't agree with half the stuff he said.

Also I love how they always review the version with all the uneccesary $hit on the car like NAV and sunroof and complain about the sticker price :/

yea if they'd do the gsr base for ~32k, i'm sure all the reviews would be more favorable instead of using the 45k+ MR

There rating system is consistent across the board. It's made to be an apples to apple comparison. They just rated the new Bentley Continental GT 5 points higher than the Evo. A car that had a cost of as test $222,000+. The new Vanquish also scored 5 points higher. For reference, the new face-lifted 335i got a 73, which tested closer at $55k, and is supposed to be a direct competitor to the 4-door 335i.

So, with that, stop making assumptions without context.

Its not an assumption. This is my personal opinion, and I believe I'm correct. You want to compare 220K+ car to the EVO? On what basis do you find such a comparison valid in any way? 335 and MR is valid.

Also, 5K+ in unnecessary options on the EVO is just that unnecessary! So, stop telling people what to think.

Reading if fundamental.

You made an assumption that the writer drives and M3 (which he doesn't, he drives a Golf), and you assumed that his opinion on the Evo was biased based on his ownership of a M3.

You stating that you don't agree with what he wrote was only opinion in your post.

I'm not making a comparison, this is Jalop's rating system, which was designed to compare a 220k+ car to a 45K one.

Top 15 of 2012 (Which the Evo MR scored the same as the new M5)

I really don't care about the rating system or the score for that matter. My observations were simply about his opinions about the Evo. And to be honest I was pretty damm close with the M3. He has a golf so he is basically used to a refined german package. All the shortcoming he mentioned, it was like listening to my friend that ironically also owns a golf, now that I think of it.

And I did say 'he probably drives an M3' I did not say that he must for sure. Dude you are looking too much into things here. Have a nice Friday.

I wish people would go to Jalopnik and post their comments in support of the Evo MR. I did.

Eh, I thought it was a decent review. All the hardcore things that make the Evo great it got praised for i.e. tangible performance. The review goes flat when he talks about look and feel and value to price. But again, why praise the car for "growing up" but then get turned off on the price? People expect a nice interior, NAV, buttons, etc and it still be priced cheaper then say, an Accord with those options? No way.
