Ebay Test Pipe

So I was looming at test pipes on ebay, I wasnt planning on buying an off brand one but this caught my eye.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mitsubishi-Lancer-EVO-10-Evolution-X-4B11T-08-12-76mm-Straight-Test-Pipe-Pipes-/370763770658?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item56533e2b22&vxp=mtr
The welds look great and the price is low. What are your guys opinions?

IMO you get what you pay for.

I would save up a little more money and get an ETS test pipe.

You can buy an STM aluminium pipe for 155 or SS for 175, why buy this bay for just 10% cheaper?

I agree and i already was looking at ets and ams. But its just a test pipe, The worst that could happen is an exhaust leak right? And if it did leak i could return in via the sellers guarantee. I doubt the ets or ams would make any more power

Im looking at the STM ones right now and going to buy one but cant chose between stainless steel and aluminum. I know and understand the differences but just not sure which is better realistically... my car is a daily driver and i have intake and cobb ap only,my plan is to go with a test pipe and then get injectors and a fuel pump to convert to e85

In certain states it's illegal for an exhaust shop to modify the emissions systems.

My vote is for ETS or STM. Having just installed an ETS test pipe on my buddies car, I can tell you that you do indeed pay a higher amount of quality that goes unsurpassed. Best looking piece I've ever held.

You will be fine with the ebay test pipe. It is just a pipe with flanges anyway, nothing special about it. I have the ebay pipe on my car and it works and fits great. The flanges and all other welds are done well. The pipe fits perfectly with no fitment or clearance issues. There isn't anything else to expect from a test pipe with no cat or resonator. If you want to pay extra for piece of mind feel free, but the only thing you will be doing in my opinion is lightening up your wallet.

Did you measure the weld penetration with your eyeballs?
The welds may look great doesn't mean the are great. Is it seriously worth skimping 15 dollars for something that might crack?

Yes a test pipe is illegal in the same states it would be illegal for an exhaust shop to make that pipe. I know I can't goto a single exhaust shop here and have a test pipe made, unless I had a hookup with someone who worked at one, but I don't.

Has anyone ever actually had a problem with an ebay test pipe? All I ever see is replies like "you get what you pay for" and "it might" break. Well call me a risk taker, but it's just a pipe with two flanges, two bungs, a bend and a couple of welds. I agree that ebay isn't the best source for all parts, but it has done fine in the past for me on simple parts such as this. If it were to crack it would be a simple fix.
