Looking for help on exhaust decision
I have been reading......and reading......and still not sure what exhaust I would like. I have listened to so many videos but I am looking for a bit more "personal" experience. I know they never sound the same as they sound on the computer.
This is what I am looking for for my 2013 gsr:
- dual exhaust like factory
- no drone - this is pertinent....the car is my daily driver
- nothing overly obnoxious....but has a decent sound at WOT (best I can compare what I am looking for is a corsa type exhaust......slightly louder than stock when cruising but nice sound at WOT)
- I also want to make sure it can stand up to the elements. I take care of my vehicles but the road salt and what not in the winter will get on there
I have read a lot of people recommending ETS, but are there any others to consider right now?
Right now I don't plan on getting a tune. When I do I anticipate going with a Cobb handheld. I am also considering replacing the cat with a HFC (I do not want a TP). After that the UICP/BOV and an intake and call it a day.
Thanks in advance for the help. I was here quiet a bit when I had my VIII but then went off to the muscle car side of things (mopar edition charger and new camaro ss) but missed the AWD and handling of the evo.

I have this exhaust.

The fitment is perfect. The exhaust is as quiet during part throttle as the stock exhaust, just without the drone. When you get on it it has a nice bark. I couldn't be happier. I had the same basic criteria when selecting my exhaust.

We all know what stock is like, and the Ultimate Racing I won't even discuss since it sounded horrible and droned like crazy. The Magnaflow is nice, but you need to make sure to get the neck-down removed and have a 3" section/flanged welded on if you plan to upgrade the rest of your exhaust. Once modified to a full 3", the Magnaflow flows well and sounds pretty decent. I then switched to the Cobb catback which is my favorite for the Evo X, especially for a daily-driver that can't drone or be too loud. Cobb has a smoother/nicer tone than the Magnaflow, but they're both reasonably deep and not too loud.
If you're looking for the best bang/buck catback, then Magnaflow is your answer. If you're looking for the best catback, then Cobb is your answer. I even dyno'd both of them back-to-back and for all real-world purposes they were the same.

I'm a fan of quite a few Perrin products, unfortunately their X catback is not one of them; it sounds good but the tips look funny to me... I've only see it on one car in person though so maybe I didn't get a good view of it.

Thanks!
3" downpipe and HFC...do it. Since you're also talking about getting the Cobb Accessport, do it all in one shot and buy their Stage 2 or 3 package.
