how to remove shift knob

The previous owner put a metal ralliart shift knob in. Gets awfully hot to touch here in Florida. I ordered an oem replacement for the evo x mr. Got it today and no threads. I guess they just pull off and press on?

I have a GSR and they're threaded so I just turned it counterclockwise. I think MR is the same, but I'm not 100% sure.

It should be threaded. It is not pressed on.

Turned out it was threaded. Screwed the old one off and the new one on in a minute. I cannot believe the one I took off (ralliart aluminum) is selling new for$170. Thanks for all the help.
