I am new here and know nothing about EVO's. I am looking into buying one. The one I am looking at is a 2008 Evolution MR. With tech package. 29,xxx miles and they want 27xxx for it.
Looks like intercooler piping, boost controller, and maybe a tune? Anything i should look for?
Thanks guys.

Well looks to me like UICP, lowering springs, at least a catback exhaust, and that's just clearly visible stuff. Could definitely have boost controller and a tune...
There are many things to look for when buying a used Evo, I chose to go new to avoid those complications, so instead of giving mis-information, I'll let someone else address that question...

Engine bay has a healthy application of armor all. Black injen intake I think.
You never know what you are going to get with a used evo. Overall, it looks very clean and would be worth checking out. Price would be better at 25K for an 08.

I haven't been out to see but I was told it was a carbon fiber hood and trunk. I just dont want to go out test drive like it and buy it then dies on the way home haha. The look into the drivers side door is where I saw the controller. If Im not mistaken.
Ah yea could be a controller. Regardless, buying a used Evo is always risky. I would say listen for strange noises...but we all have weird noises coming from our cars
Assuming this car has a boost controller and was tuned, I would still personally take it to a reputable tuner and get it re-tuned...never know what kind of craziness people put their cars through.
Good luck!

yeah thats over priced for one for a used modified car, 27k? also ask if you can get someone to look at the car who does body work, most people who own evos and wreck them will pay for it to be fixed and trade it in, and if they didnt report it to your insurance company then it wont be on the car fax, listen for the exhuast when it starts, if its deep and loud and not quiet then thats not stock, check the screws on the CAI to see if it has been changed to a aftermaket type, there is def a number of things to check for
also 2008 is the first x there was so you might run into alot of problems, make sure it doesnt have the whine of death too

To avoid future reliability issues, my rule of buying a used car is, either buy a new one, or a stock one. Modded ones will tend to have been more abused because the previous owners would have wanted to test how much difference in power their mods made.
Thats just me though.

Cameron, what's up, it's Justin, Anyways the car has a tuned by sticker on the drivers rear window, forgot whos it was, but it apparently is Pro-tuned. If you decide to go look at it lmk and i'll come with. However when we tried to get mine, Fusz didnt work out for us do to the incompetent sales women we dealt with which caused us to have to drive to Chicago to go get it. Also if your ok with a GSR, there's one for 22k on CL
ok so the hood and truck are plisy dipped? i mean i seriously dont think they are carbon fiber, also that is a single exhaust so thats not stock, also it saying it has been done by a pro tuner is fine and all but i hope they didnt knock out all of O2 sensors
My 08 MR books at $36k which is ridiculous... However that is what it books for KBB. Most of us are modding our cars, so if someone's already gone down the same road we would go modding why not buy. You'd be ahead of the game! However you also run the risk of crappy modding. Best bet is to drive the car and see how it feels. Does it feel like it would feel from the factory? A good tune feels right. Does the look suit you? Or does it feel like Paul walker was driving it? Hey drive the car feel it know it, if it's right you'll know. Otherwise look elsewhere...
