Hard driving effects...
Just bought a 2014 X got about 1500 miles now cobb intake and AMS Turbo back.. I usually drive like grandma 24/7 all the time maybe 1 2nd gear pull every few weeks. I just have always belived hard driving will greatly reduce the longevity of the car. How many people here drive hard all the time for 1000's of miles with no issues? Just curious...

you dont know what hard driving is until u take it to the track ... now thats hard driving.... dd is nothing no matter how hard u drive it wouldnt be like on the track where u are constantly on full throttle
Well played.(I had a bit of a crush on Michelle, back in the day.
)But maybe the OP meant *his* grandma.
As far as I know, my own grandma never drove a motor vehicle.
(She was named after Queen Victoria ... but not all that long after.
)On the original question, I lost the turbo in my Celica GT-Four from *lack* of use.
Crawling through urban commutes, after one relo, I didn't spool it up often enough, and the bearings gunked up.
After that, I made a point of spooling up the turbo, once in a while.
Italian cars are known for rotting faster from sitting in the garage than from being driven.

As they say over on another forum: "Drive it like you stole it".
Ok, my first post here and I really don't mean this as any disrespect, just curious. Why get an Evo if you are not going to use the power? I just took one for a test drive and there are some sacrifices over more subdued cars for the performance.
Cheers.

Well... I daily mine, and most of the time I drive it as I would any other car.. Nice and easy, trying to dodge these idiots on the road.. But it's nice to be able to hammer down and go. Which is fun. The evo can be as tame or as aggressive as you want it to be via throttle input.
Hard driving an EVO does not necessarily mean driving WOT all the time and while a track day is definitely driving it hard, Mitsubishi make the following statements in their workshop manuals ...
Severe usage conditions:
- Driving on dusty, rough, muddy or salt-spread roads
- Towing or police, taxi or commercial operation
- Extensive idling and/or low speed operation
- Repeated short-trip operation at freezing temperatures (engine not thoroughly warmed up)
- Extended use of brakes while driving
- Driving in sandy areas
- More than 50% operation in heavy city traffic during hot weather above 32°C (90°F)
This can be found in the General Service Maintenance Table section ....

A lot of guys on here are extra worried and it doesn't make the Evo look good. Don't worry. Remember, Mitsubishi is a truck company first, car company second. The Evo is extra beefy too. Whatever you can dish out, the Evo can take it.
