From IX to X

Just bought me a 2011 GSR and was wondering what you guys would recommend for the first upgrade would be?

I'll take any recommendations.

My IX was much faster but i bought it already built. I want some additional power but at the same time i like how quite it is. Any full exhaust systems out there that are somewhat quite and not so loud?

TBE would be my first mod. Then I would get an intake. Also get it tuned. Those should get you around 300whp.

I'm very happy with my Buschur exhaust. I have the bullet muffler which is kinda loud, but he also has a quiet version that sounds great too.

Like Chut said, the usual basic mods people do are TBE, Intake and UICP. That's good for 300+ HP/TQ.

I got an AMS turbo back, 3 port, K&N filter, AMS upper intercooler pipe and a Cobb accessport tuned by Sean Ivey. Car made 341whp/324 torque. In hindsight, I wouldn't do the ams downpipe cause its a major pain in the *** (took 7 hrs with a lift and every tool known to mankind), and from what I understand doesn't do much on the stock turbo. However I would do the Cobb downpipe which bolts up to the stock 02 housing and gives you 90% of the benefit the AMS would. Also worth noting is that I opted for the ams high flow cat, not a straight pipe which would have made a bit more power but I didn't want to deal with the smell and smog checks

TBE, High Flow Filter and Tune is the way to go, don't get an intake till you start doing other mods like intercooler and piping, but honestly I would recommend mud flaps first before anything else, unless you have no problem re-painting.

100% agreed on the mud flaps... I got the RA set.

I would recommend throwing on some 265 and better brake pads. That is if your going auto-x or on some trackday

I did some research on what were the quietest exhausts. The T1R Sparrow with an ETS Test Pipe is described as being almost completely quiet during normal driving but it has some volume at WOT. If you get a high flow cat its even quieter.

You don't need a downpipe if you're not going for high power. If it were me, I would do Intake, 3 port boost controller, test pipe, catback and a tune. Maybe intercooler and piping if I wanted a bit more power.

1) Replace the FPR relay
2) Zip tie the FPR to intake manifold vacuum hose (known to pop off)
3) Mud flaps
4) 3port + tune
5) If not happy with power go turbo back exhaust (If you want quiet go with the COBB CBE unit and a test pipe of your choosing)

My car did 341whp just by going to the point of item 4.

I would also start with TBE, 3-port, and intake or drop in filter. Those mods have got me 345whp. Good Luck with the modding.

From all the exhausts I have heard, the Buschur crossflow is the quietest. I don't see it on their website, so the next best thing would be the magnaflow exhaust.
