I have the AEM boxed intake, and am not really a huge fan of it. I recently upgraded my LICP to a metal one, and I could no longer use the box part of it. I had to put the stock airbox back on, but only the part that meets the hood duct so I didn't get idle surge from the engine fan.

I'm going to be upgrading my turbo and cams next Winter, so I will be replacing it with something better. Plus I thought it was too loud.

 

I like the looks of it very much and it comes with a new carbon fiber cover for the radiator that has me drooling as well...however I have seen their cost on the GruppM USA site to be around $1,800.00. Compared to a SRI that is a lot more cash.

My future plans would more than likely involve a SRI vs a CAI just due to the return on investment and what I would use my car for. Plus OEMs like ETS have great packages for full intake and full exhaust replacements...I also like the thought of single brand parts as much as possible vs. mix and match. Again, sacrificing performance for aesthetics I suppose

Wait wait wait.... ETS = no need for a tune??????

 

It retains the stock MAF housing, so technically, no need for a tune.

A tune will, however, take advantage of the intake much more.

Can the spooling be heard?

 

Absolutely. I had an engineer buddy at work ride along to get lunch one day, that was his first comment was how cool the spooling sounded when I opened up.
