Need a new hood

So while I was away from my baby (Evo X) a tree branch fell on my cars' hood left a pretty decent dent on it. So I called the insurance company and asked them to fix it and they said they'll come look at it but if the damage is below $1000 I'll have to pay out of pocket, but if it's above that price then they'll pay for it. Now if the damage is less than $1000, which it probably is, I'm thinking of putting on a new carbon fiber hood since I have to replace my hood anyway (otherwise I'll cry every time I see her banged up like that.) my question for the replier is, where can I get a decent carbon fiber hood for a decent price. $1000 is the maximum I will go lol. I'm kind of cheap at the moment hehe. I found a hood from extreme dimensions for almost $800, but I don't know if they're good or not. Anyone have experience with them? Now if any of you guys know a better one for a better price please let me know. Thank you in advance!!

I'm pretty sure that if you bring your car to a MITSU dealership, they'll give you a new hood for more than $1000. They're a rip off!

While I don't have any personal experience with carbon hoods. All I can say is you get what you pay for. I've seen quite a few people including myself try to take the cheap way out and it never ends well. If I were you and the damage was less then $1k, I would pay to fix the hood and save up for something you know you'll be happy with.

oem hoods are usually around $8-900 which sucks for you granted thats before tax but that still keeps you below you 1k mark, you could always go to a local mitsu dealership and ask there parts guy to write you out a quote at ovr 1k which they will most likely do but then you run into the problem of having a bad carfax/autocheck report on your car which will cost you more than 1k when you go to trade/sell the car

If it's above $1000 you'll still pay $1000. They will just pay for the amount above $1000. Just keep that in mind.

Yup! Exactly what I was thinking when I read Post #1.

That is how deductibles work

VIS Racing hoods are outstanding and less than $1000.

I had an Extreme Dimensions hood, it was decent quality, but there were a few thing about the VIS that really were better:
-rolled edges (cabon isn't cut off at the end, it's rolled)
-carbon fiber underneath, not fiberglass
-thicker resin
-the underside had ductwork for airflow/water, ED did not, it was just open holes
-VIS is made in Japan but they don't advertise that for some reason

I'm highly skeptical of this statement. They are most likely made in china for the price point they are at.
