Coilover or lowering spring

Hi guys.

I bought a set of te's sl with 18x10 +40 size. I was told that i can only use coilovers to lower my car coz the tires (265/40/18 size) will rub the lowering spring if i use one.

Thanks

That is a horrible wheel size/offset combination to get for an Evo. Did you get a good deal or something?

You're gonna need at least 15mm spacers all around to even fit those.

You'd want an 18x10 with an offset around +25. The tire size is fine. You could try a spacer to push the wheel out but I would say just sell those and get the right size wheels. I never recommend lowering a car with just springs. The ride quality almost always degrades. Either get a proper shock/spring combo or a set of good coilovers. Personally I run custom valved bilsteins and eibach springs. I'm very happy with the ride and handling. I road race and street drive the car.

I'm not sure. I've never heard of anyone going with a wheel size/offset that you have. Hitting the coil is only one issue you might face. The other is that without spacers the spokes of the wheel might also hit the calipers. The only fix for this is to get a spacer (or better yet get properly fitting wheels).

I think you are going to have an issue hitting either the brake calipers or the shocks. Put it on carefully with the car jacked up and rotate the wheel and see what happens.

Hi guys. The wheels fit perfectly on the rear but the front needed 25mm spacers. I lowered it with coilovers.

Thanks
