Leaky BOV cause issues even if recirculated?

My car is having on and off symptoms of power loss lately. I've noticed that when going through the car when I removed my Forge BOV that when I blow into it, the air goes right out. If I play with the piston in it a bit, it will seat properly sometimes and not leak at all.

If this was happening while driving, would this contribute to the car running poorly from time to time (laggy spool, not as high of boost, etc...)? Overall the car feels a lot slower when this happens. The BOV is recirculated back into the intake, so it's not losing any meter air from the MAF, but I would guess there would be some form of pressure drop there. Anyone know for sure?

If your BOV does not seal correctly and therefore leaks, it would most definitely cause performance issues. Even though you are recirculating, you would be bleeding off pressurized air. You should replace that valve. Contact forge and see what they can do for you.

doesnt matter if it's leaking into the atmosphere or leaking into your intake pipe-it's still leaking!

Not to mention your turbo will have to work harder to try to make the same boost it is losing. I would upgrade the bov. There are plenty of good ones on the market (Turbosmart, Synapse, etc)

(or just put the OEM one back on if you are at near-stock boost levels...)

Yes it can still cause issues if its leaking

If you have an vein leak in your body and not bleeding out, youre still bleeding internally and theres an issue lol.
