New Car - Mod all at once?

Hi all,

New to the forums for the most part, been lurking a while.

I tried to search around to find some answers, but nothing was specific to what I want to do.

I want to do all my bolt ons at one time.

I'm getting the Evo sometime in the next 2 months.

here are the mods i want to do please feel free to critique them or help me out on what I should or shouldn't do.

My goal, is stock internals/Turbo and hit about 325-350WHP(Please let me know if this is a reachable goal)

The parts I want to upgrade:

FMIC - with Piping Package
http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Produ...CPackage.shtml

Electronic Boost Controller(Is this needed for what I want? I know I want Electronic, but will stock work fine?)
http://www.cobbtuning.com/Mitsubishi...d-p/752750.htm

Turbo-back exhaust (With High Flow Cat[Located in PA :/ Emissions])
http://www.ultimate-racing.com/xcart...&cat=80&page=1
Looking at the Ultimate Racing Turboback Exhaust Package
Options:
Long Downpipe
Downpipe Wideband
Metal Cat
Cat replacement Wideband
Dual w/ 4" Titaniam Tip Single wall
Midpipeoption Resonated?!??!(No clue what to get here or if standard is fine)
and Gaskets
($1600)

Intake
http://www.agpturbo.com/evolution-x-...ir-intake-v-2/

Also obviously a Tune.
I'm not sure what way I should go with this, can I use an Accessport with this? Should if I take it to a good Tuner, will they just be able to take care of everything?(This is where most of my questioning stems from)

So In the end, It looks like I'm looking at around:

3000 for just the parts.

I imagine i should be able to install everything myself right? I have a pretty good working knowledge of how to follow instructions and problem solve, so I'm confident I can do this.

Then the questions remain, do I get an Access Port as well?

or Do I take it somewhere, get it tuned and be done with it?

I appreciate any feedback, both positive and negative.

And yes, I did a search but Id like a nice discussion if you have time.

Thanks again!!

If you're in PA, I'd take it over to CBRD in York for a tune. He usually prefers open source for the X, so save your money on the Accessport and put it towards something else. As for the mods, are there reasons you are looking at the brands you are? They're all fine.

The FMIC is fine, you could also look into offerings from good vendors like ETS. CBRD also has a really nice FMIC, which I actually use right now.

Definitely need a 3 port boost controller. They're all comparable.

For the downpipe. I'd look at the AMS Widemouth downpipe, but realistically you don't need a downpipe upgrade until you do the turbo.

If you need the high flow cat, I'm sorry you can get resonated or not, just makes a difference in the tone a bit.

Intakes are all comparable as well. The only thing to watch for would be one like AMS that doesn't use the factory MAF housing, if you're going to put everything on before a tune.

All of these parts can be done at home, the hardest one would probably be the downpipe, depending on what type you end up with. I would personally not be driving too much without a tune though...

Thanks for the input!!
I did hear the York guys were very good.

I just chose the mfg due to the fact I kinda liked the exhaust setup that they offered with all of the "build your own" kit.

I figured while there, why not do the intercooler. And have all the parts I would need if I ever upgrade internals/Turbo.

As for the CAT I'm just really paranoid about not passing emissions, Allegheny County sucks

What do you think with the parts I have selected, with a good tune, what WHP would I be looking at?

I have similar mods (full bolt-ons, test pipe instead of HFC). On CBRD's mustang dyno, I make 316/311 or something like that on 93 octane. I'd peg you somewhere a little lower than that with a HFC. The numbers are just numbers though, since all dynos read differently. You might make 370 on another shops dynojet.

You should be able to hit that goal.

For reference, my 2011 X MR makes 327whp and 332wtq with:

AMS widemouth DP
AMS UICP and LICP
AMS intercooler
AMS intake
AMS steel core high flow cat
Grimmspeed 3-port boost controller
Stock exhaust
AMS tune

does the LICP make a difference in power?

Yeah, I think I'm going to go with the resonated Test pipe.

I found quite a few youtube videos(I know it probably doesn't do it justice) and I really like the sound.

I'm pretty excited..First thing is to get my car...only 1 month and 2 weeks to go!!

Intercooler piping does not increase power, no. UICP tends to make it a little more responsive, but LICP doesn't do a whole lot on the X.

no need to upgrade the ICPs unless you want to for cosmetics.

Oh, I was under the impression that the UICP was restrictive?

I thought it increased throttle response.

UICP is a worthwhile upgrade. It does tend to increase throttle response.

LICP not so much.

Hard to say. It was just part of the AMS STX400 kit that was already on the car when I bought it. Overall, I'm pleased with the car.
