For you sound and acoustic guys

For those of you that have an understanding of sound and acoustics I'm curious about the best way to pipe engine exhaust sound into the cabin?

I know, it's odd, but before I got the beatrush rear divider I ran with the area between the cabin and trunk open and I loved the sound. The divider muffled that somewhat. I'm going to make a new divider out of Dibond since I don't like how the beatrush has so many holes for screws and I want it one piece. I was thinking of cutting maybe 2 or 3 holes in it, maybe 3 inches in diameter or whatever would be best, and attaching the same diameter piping to the back of the divider and have it run maybe a foot back to pipe the sound in.

Will that idea accomplish my goal or would you have a better idea (other than not having the divider there at all)

It's just in the idea phase right now but am curious about doing it.

Thanks

So, this is not a street car, right? If true and it is track only, just remove the muffler. We get, umm, plenty of noise in the cabin with a straight pipe all the way back.

I wouldn't cut any holes in the divider, it's there to help prevent fire spreading into the cabin.

It's my DD track car. I have the UR exhaust and will be installing the QTP cutout tomorrow. Outside noise is fine. I just liked the way it sounded with no divider in the rear. Had a different sound.

No pipes you add to a divider will give the same sound that you had without one. It's possible a metal divider might resonate most of the sound through, but switching to Dibond will probably muffle the sound even further. Most composites do an excellent job of dispersing sound waves through their layers.

Personally, I would try a sheet of thin aluminum. If it still doesn't sound good enough, get a louder muffler.

Ok thanks. It's not that important to me. Just thought it would be fun to make something.
