With my car it depends on the surface and the tires. On concrete I would set it at about 5K RPM. Asphalt gets about 5500 RPM. With stickies at the track I have to give it almost 7000 RPM or it will bog.

Trade it in for a Evo X MR. Perfect launch every time.

I would say any gen Evo or STi or similar car, AWD turbo, with a stockish sized turbo would launch best at around 5500rpm with slight clutch slip.

Is this safe to do? I have one set, about 400whp and I'm afraid. What is the weakest link with a launch at 5500 rpm? Dif, axles, etc.?

Edit - safe being relative obviously. I know 100's of launches will kill something.

If you mess up you 'only' have to replace your 5k Transfer case. Just some food for thought

You do realize you are asking regular people of all ages on a forum right? So even if someone did have a X how do you know they are giving sound advice? Not every member is ASE certified, works at an Evo shop, tunes cars themselves, etc... I could say my two step on my X is set at 11,000 and I get a perfect launch every time. I understand what you are saying but most times you look for answers on a forum you have to weed out the idiot responses.
