Hi I have talked about this before but it still gives me the s-----ts about this whine you can hear at low revs or in garage this whine goes up and down with revs of engine a lot of talk about it being of it being oil pump .but by now if it is the oip pump I would have thought a improved version of the oil pump mite have been available I have had oil pump replace once under warranty but I am still not total convinced that it is the oil pump some of you guys and girls have talked about a similar problem I think but I am having trouble tracking down theses sound clips to listen to these clips and see if it is the same noise and what these people ended up doing about it. I have a theory could the noise have always been there but when mitso. Turn the engine round so turbo was at the back of engine instead of the front of engine the oil pump mite been noisy but you just could not hear it because it was in a diff place??????????? Gazza

 

Normal. Oil pump. My 2011 did this, my 2013 does this, and even my room mates evo 8 does this. Oil pump is driven off timing chain (on our cars), and will whine depending on RPM.

 

i too noticed a whine in my 14 X but was told it was normal, buddy of mine has a 8 and like zebra4 stated also makes the noise he actually took it to RRE and said it was fine

 

Thanks very one for their fed back. Could my theory be right maybe ??????????????about oil pump just being in a different spot??????????? Some more comments and fed back would be good could some of our forum members up load some of their sound clips . on this noise. Please. Gary

 

my 14 does it until its warm then it goes away.

 

Its normal.
