Angry new evo x(35k miles) problems problems problmes!

Just got a a 2011 evo x . Car started misfiring and had the cylinder 3 misfire codes when I got it checked out. Got new spark plugs. ignition coils. Pulled out the cylinder 2 and 3 plugs were black and the top of it was chipped.(the hook part) put the new ones in and it still was misfiring the engine service light came back on and took it to get checked and this time cylinder 2 and 3. Pulled those plugs back out and they started to get black again but cylinder 1 and 4 didnt look like that at all. Anyone know what could be going on?!?!

most likely missing a piece of your pistons or the ring landings are cracked..that motor is on its way out. Continue to drive it and you will have a hole on either side of your block or destroy the cylinder walls. I highly recommend you do a compression test on all cylinders and either pull the head off or use a boroscope to see whats going on inside but most likely it is what i said....i know this because it happened to me.

Curious. Private seller, or dealer? Did you do a full inspection before the purchase? How long after did the problem start? Or did you buy it like that with the intent to fix?

It was a dealer that only sell used cars. I bought the car running fine the only thing is when I would back up and I would he this clank noise before I bought dealer said it was a loose motors mount they fixed it for me didn't do it anymore. But I leave an hour and a half away from the place I got it it. And I had driven it it al day and started doing it 20 minutes out of the city I bought it but by that time it was already 9 pm. So took it home figured just spark plugs or ignition coils. Before I had a chance to even look into it the following day clutch when out on me took it back to the dealer they claimed it was my fault or mis using the car? idk they had it for 3 weeks before they said they figured something out for me said they gave "cheap labor" still paid 2000 to get it fixed. I had told them about the mis fire to multiple times. When I went to get it the second time asked about it again and they were like let's go for a test drive didnt do it at all. The way back home did it against same exact spot 20 minutes out. I know I should of probably returned it but I was to impatient and just wanted one already. I could of waited 2 3 months and could of got a brand new one but ****ed up

Semih321 is very likely correct.

Sounds like loose metal has hit both plug tops on your cylinders 2 and 3.

The pistons are coming apart in some places and this will continue to get worse with more driving.

Due to many reasons but the main is detonation. Not enough fuel, too much timing, too much boost, etc.

When that happens to your plugs, the head can also have similar damage by those small metal pieces banging loose inside the engine.

Your turbine wheel can also get damaged by the loose particles exiting that way.

At the same time, loose metal can get into the oil and also missing up your engine bearings and even the oil cooler if damage reaches your piston rings.

Do like Semih321 says and do a compression test or borescope to check for damage. Sometimes engine will show good compression but there is still piston top damage.

This fix can get very expensive and lots of down time.

Lets just hope if not this bad.

So take it back to the dealer and do not let them blame you for the problems you are having with less than 48 hours after you took delivery of the car.

DO not tell them anything about piston damage or anything we have mentioned here. Let them tell you first what is wrong.

Good luck.

Like posted above. Take it back to the dealer and see what they can do for you. If need be, give them hell. If they refuse to help, find a GOOD mechanic and take it from there.

If it is not too late - most states have a 'buyers remorse' (72 hour) to return for full refund...

How did you pay - can you stop payment and return it?

^Problem is, He stated that the dealer had the car for 3 weeks to fix the clutch. So not sure if that still applies.

does it have any modifications (particularly intake)?

These frequently cause a cylinder 3 lean code/misfire code, sometimes it's a different lean code/misfire code. The odds of your motor being blown are probably zero. The odds of there being an aftermarket intake or exhaust on it, without an ECU tune, is probably 100%.
