Going from an VIII/IX to an X?

Any of you guys do it, and regret it? I found a White GSR 14' that im going to look at tomorrow. My dad got himself one a week ago(phantom black) and its awesome. Considering trading in my 05'. Gonna be hard to do. I love this car, and have always wanted an evo of that body style, they are nostalgic to me. Looking to hear some opinions.

I traded in my 03 for a 13 pb gsr X. The only thing I miss about the VIII is the exterior, it's just more aggressive. But that's about it, the recaros are waaaay better in the X and it has a slightly better interior. The X is also a bit more comfortable for daily driving.
And no I don't regret it at all, it's nice having a newer car with low miles to modify.

Sounds like a terrible idea

newer always seems like a better idea and this is coming from soneone who has made that trade but the EVO 8 is a car you'll miss. It's an extreme version of say the 98-00 civic SI or the 94-01 integra...these cars just can't be replaced.

This is where I'm standing. It's going to be damn near impossible to watch my car go away. I'm considering not trading and just getting the X.

I had an viii for 11 years that I traded in recently. I love the X and think it's a better overall car, but if I was able to keep my viii I would have done so. The thing that seems to stand out most for me between the cars is the size. The X feels quite a bit larger compared to the VIII.

Really good point from Ryanmm. The IX will be the evo that is most wanted in the long run, if it isn't so already...

I boight my 2004 new and got a X in 2009. I got tired of the X's weight and the cheap plastic interior bothered me much more than in the VIII because the driving experience just wasn't nearly as direct. I sold it in 2011 and am happy that I never let the 04 go.

If you are going to let go of your current EVO, I'd try a private sale. You may get lowballed trying to trade it into the dealership.

youll DEFINITELY get lowballed for a trade in. Either keep it and get an x, or sell it privately make more money and then put some of that money as a downpayment.

you are going to get lowballed either way. trade your dad for a week if he will allow it and see if you like it. otherwise wait for feb 3 and see what the focus rs brings to the table.

UPDATE. So I went today and bought a 2014 GSR with nav in wicked white. I didn't even bother taking the 05 as I know there's no way in hell a bolt on evo with a straight exhaust cramming hard is gonna get any decent of an offer. I will prob sell private even though I love this car. I'll see. But for future buyers I will try n update this thread every now and then. So far. Very nice car. Handles very precise and is more comfortable. The only thing I will miss about my evo is purely out of nostalgia and sentiment. The evo VIII and IX where the ones I grew up drooling over and when I finally got one it meant a lot. Only way I'll sell is to a real evo head anyways, don't want to see another evo get trashed.
