new 2015 evo gsr

What mods can I do without requiring a pro tune. I just got a ets turbo back can I put this on without getting my car tuned or will it run like crap. I have a walbro 450 and I'd 1000s should I just wait till I get the intercooler stuff intake and get it all tuned at once?

It feels like you are just throwing a bunch of stuff at it without a whole lot of research in there. You don't need a bigger downpipe until you get a larger turbo, for starters.

Aside from that, you can put the exhaust on, but I don't believe it would be advisable to run the downpipe and it should run fine without a tune. Anything past that, I would recommend a tune to keep your car running safe.

Your gonna have to do some research. I wouldnt run a full turboback without a tune, only a catback. Some intakes require tune and others dont. Take it slow. I have a 14' with only 1700 miles on it and I am enjoying it step by step so to speak. I rode stock for almost all the miles until just recently getting a cat back. I have an intake on the way as a gift aswell. My last evo(VIII) was bought with full
Bolt ons. Its more fun to experience it part by part IMO. Do the research and ask a lot of questions. Goodluck with the new car!

It may be more fun, but cost is way more as well.

OP- The thing is: you either get re-tuned after each part you add, or buy a whole pile of parts and install them all at once and have the car tuned to save some money on tuning costs.
You mentioned that you have the TBE, injectors and FP. This is a good start.. Next, (at the very least) you should buy an intake, UICP and a 3 port EBC. Now install all parts (or have your shop do it if you prefer, but definitely have the shop install the pump and injectors right before hitting the dyno) and get it tuned. Doesn't make sense to spend money on multiple tunes IMO.
Good luck with the new ride!

I didnt mean buy one part and tune. But some parts dont need a tune. For example, im currently buying parts that dont require tune IE Catback, ets intake, upper+lower intercooler piping. Then I will buy test pipe, boost controller, possibly 4" intercooler and get the tune done all at once.

I'm a new owner of a 2014 MR full stock (thank god)

good thing I found this thread! I was planning on installing a turboback 1st then intercooler and intake kits, boost controller, then finally a turbo kit.

But the more I read, is it better I upgrade the intercooler and intake 1st, slap on the catback and only put on the rest of the turbo back after upgrading the turbo?

OP- i'd like to know how the ets exhaust go that's what I'm looking at getting in the future

You need to first find a great shop that can work on an MR and then talk with them as to your goals. If I were you I would make a drive out to 5150 in CA to get tuned and my car worked on. In the wrong hands and MR can become a nightmare from what I've read. I have a great tuner locally, so I lucked out, and they specialize in the MR.

Yeah, I'm just kind of planning out things before I decide to put away money for upgrades. I'd probably still be bone stock for a year or so while I research some more.

Thanks for the recommendation for 5150 though! Will keep in mind

Damn you guys don't waste any time do ya?! I just got a new 14 GSR 2 months ago and have put 1700 miles on it and I'm still totally happy with the car the way it is lol. I see a catback in the near future, but I say at-least give the car 5k miles before you blow your warranty. Driving it off the lot to replace the fuel system, full exhaust, and an intercooler, and then coming here asking if you need a tune tells me you have absolutely no idea what you're doing. Slow down and do some research.. Maybe your first upgrade to that 15 should be to get ride of those ugly seats and rearview mirrors.

once you have all your parts then tune it just wait till you have everything first.
enjoy the car for a while as it is stock so one in case something breaks can fix it and two so you will enjoy the upgrades more.

Last research is key on this there is a lot of info on the web and on here look it up go from there.
that way you are not wasting your money on parts you don't need.

Have a goal for your car if you want 500whp one day buy parts that will meet this goal, Have a goal and build up to that.

Swapping the seats for recaros or aftermarket seats will also void the warranty since they're not "safe" for US standards anymore.

In all seriousness, try to get all your bolt-ons all at once then a tune. That's the best way.

I have a 14 stock MR with 3000 miles on it. I am planning to purchase AMS or ETS UICP and COBB turbo inlet. I did some research on it, it seems like it can improve throttle response without a tune.

What do you guys think?

That's perfectly fine. You should also do a K&N drop-in filter while you are at it. Makes a nice difference and no tune required.

Tons of good points have been made here. Lots and lots of research is important! Use all resources available. You have so many options and directions you can go. Choosing a shop that knows what they're doing when it comes time to mod & tune is priceless. Just enjoying the car stock for a while and having a warranty for peace of mind would be pretty awesome. It is disappointing that the 15s didn't come with Recaros, but it's still a fun car and a ride to be proud of. We shouldn't bash the OP on that.
