Unhappy Got rear ended today

So on my way home from work today, I was at a stop light with about 6-7 cars in front of me...when out of nowhere I feel a hard *** hit that jerked me head back! As I looked up in my rear view I see A big *** Yukon Denali flipping one and speeding off without hesitation or knowing what the severity of the damage was to my evo, I flip one and speed off after him! (Stupid I know but he had no plates and wasn't about to let him get away with hitting me) after chasing him for about 5 miles while being on the phone with the cops he decided to pull over!! His excuse was "sorry bro I'm late for work" long story short I got his insurance info and DL info(took pics of it) now my rear bumper doesn't look toooo bad but my trunk was hard to open and now will NOT shut and I noticed the trunk are looks pushed in and the carpet area is jammed! Could there be possible frame damage or something? Im not trying to have my Evo totaled out! And the insurance lady asked me if my car had over 100K miles which it does....does that play a factor in this some how!?!? Idk what to do! I'll try and post pics of the trunk area tomorrow

Notice how the trunk sits on the bumper now

Typical behaviour of Yukon drivers , hit and run, not taking responsibilities, hoping the victim to eat up the cost... What a piece of crap in human form.

I advise you to visit the best body shop in your area and have everything fixed. Since you already have his information, it is in your best interest to pay up yourself as of now, and work with your lawyer to get him/his insurance to reimburse you the FULL amount.

If you have collision coverage, your insurance company can somehow perform this function, and your insurance should pay you the FULL amount of repairing the damage. In the rare case where your insurance refuse to pay the full amount, talk to your lawyer.

You are totally on top of the game as you have got the penetrator's information. The only scenario you want to avoid is being forced by your insurance to fix it cheaply. In that case your insurance would sue him behind the scene anyway, and bag the different themselves.

Possible floor damage and a stuck latch. I was rear ended a week before Christmas last year and I had to get the trunk lid, bumper, and floor replaced.

Sorry to hear! Get that neck checked-out! Same thing happened to me! Doctors found a few issues...Take it to a real Professional body shop! Let them check it out thoroughly! Like mentioned above, you could have lower floor damage in your trunk. Make sure you go through Insurance, and do NOT accept him making a deal with you and he'll bay cash. That's 'B.S.', never a happy ending...

What a huge 'A-hole' that idiot was! Best of luck! Don't cut any corners on getting your car, AND YOURSELF repaired!

If the OP insists, I think he has sufficient evidence to sue the offender for hit and run and to ask for punitive damage, although I'm not very sure if that is the best way to solve the issue.

That's crap, "I'm late for work", such BS of an excuse. It's never an excuse to hit someone and run off like that. Your just lucky you were in your car(besides getting whiplash), or else he would of got out it.
Get it fixed to your liking and let insurance and lawyers deal with the BS. Just glad your okay and no one else was hit.

Someone hit and run on me I ran his *** down and got him arrested. Not sure why you didn't get this guy arrested. It's illegal to flee the scene of an accident regardless of alleged work obligations.

California - no surprise there

Thanks guys! Unfortunately his insurance hasn't gotten a hold of him....hmmm what a coincidence right!? They told me over the phone that they can't cover anything until they get a statement from the guy that hit me because they don't have that car on their file! What kind of BS is this!?!? I told them he's a policy holder and you guys should cover him(AAA) and they said that without a statement they cannot do anything and if they don't get a hold of him within 30 days then the claim gets denied and thrown out!?!? I might need to make this a legal matter and get a lawyer involved! CHP also told me they can't do anything even if it's a hit and run because I have his insurance information which is "all I need" according to them! He didn't even run the guys DL number...I can't even drive my car because my trunk won't close =\

What are you waiting for?!?! Contact a lawyer immediately! Firstly to get you checked out and possibly get some therapy and secondly to make sure you get your car fixed and not have to worry about them trying to pull a fast one on you!

lesson learned, if anyone does this and it was big enough

call the cops, no running late, no other ****, he hit you (or if you are the guy that did the hitting...) and thus has to stay

the cops takes a statement, and that could then be used by insurance.

do NOT let them drive away without full everything copied down.

I can't believe you didn't wait for a cop when the guy hit and run? Lesson learned, hope it works out.
