Because they have a warehouse full of base Lancer headlights that fit and it's an easy way to milk consumers for a few hundred dollars more profit.

Anyone know if you can replace the OEM HID bulbs with a slightly brighter, bluer bulb? I noticed some factory HID's on other vehicles seem to light more, and are a bit bluer.

I noticed that too. Ours definitely has more yellow to it than Acura or Infiniti's.

It's a D2S bulb. Do a search on google to give you an idea on colors (temps) and light output. Try and stay away from the super cheap (cost) bulbs. I've seen them either not fit, or burn out fast.

yup...

the color relates to the K 3200K, 5000k here to show differences in color:

use this guide.

not sure if they have an LED version for low beams but I have the fog lights and they are a bit brighter tan the low beams. If you look at fog section my picture is the only submitted picture. I have HID's btw.

Familiar with kelvin light temperature but was unfamiliar with the bulb options. Okay, so can simply change the 9005 HID bulb for the temp you want, and the diodedynamics is a recommended bulb? Are the HID bulb changes similar to any other bulb change which is usually pretty simple or is it more involved? yes, I have factory HIDs now. If so, I may look into this. Particularly if I have any failures.

I recommend diode dynamics. From the website it seems they can sell you a different color. I recommend them because I had a great experience there and they are local to me. Justin who works there owns an Evo 9/8 so call and ask to tall to him. He can fill you in with any questions you have.

I have a 15' GSR with the projector HIDs but I feel that my lights aren't as bright white as most modern cars do. Any recommendations, I might just go with Sylvania/OSRAM SilverStar
